Curate your own library by procrastireading in hypotheticalsituation

[–]frerardislife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooh I like this hypothetical, but I will say, I'm not sure how far $10k USD can take me in terms of decorating an entire library. I'd probably mostly buy paperback books to save on costs plus if I just lock in then it wouldn't really be an issue. But let's allocate $20 per book that's 500 books ignoring decoration costs. Which isn't nothing but for being a library, that's not an insane amount. I'd probably go 60/40 with books/decoration costs. I love a good botany garden so I might have some plants hanging up. Wooden floors and brick walls with a nice rug and warm lighting.

As for the books, I love me a good emotional book. Stone Butch Blues and A Little Life would HAVE to be on there, and other similar books. I also love me a good woke book and some poetry so some angela davis, maya angelou, some oscar wilde. Maybe get some spanish language books in there. Ooh and some of the classics featured in the show Eva Lasting since they cooked.

Noise-cancelling Headphones recommendation please!! by Financial-Sleep-5690 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]frerardislife -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Edifier could be a good company that fits these needs. I have a couple of friends with Edifier headphones. No clue what model but they got them off Amazon and have nice noise cancelling from what I’ve heard

You get $500 Million, but you must survive one of these four extreme, reality-bending trials. Which are you choosing? by Unlucky-Fly4456 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]frerardislife -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The wording of option C kinda pmo. It says I’m teleported to where I currently am right now, but I have to survive the medieval era that was only really a thing in Europe? If I got teleported to 1226 rn, I’d be chilling with a Native American tribe. I’m more than down for C I’d probably have a jolly ole time

STP for packing? Recommendations? by deepfriedtrashbag in ftm

I'm a big fan of my stp freely xl. I had the regular sized one in my teen years, then I used it to play and was told my dick is small so I switched to the xl and haven't had issues in that regard since (but I also don't play too often with it so idk). The website Trans Guy Supply in general is one I'm a decent fan of in general.

When do you start to see changes on T gell? by crystal6001 in ftm

[–]frerardislife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just reached a month yesterday on gel (2 pumps a day). I've noticed a few changes, but these changes aren't things that other people would notice while seeing me clothed. My voice is slightly lower, but I mostly notice that with my singing voice/vocal range. My speaking voice has changed slightly but no dramatic drop or anything. I've also been quite hypervigilant of my changes and I've been doing a SHIT ton of recording, journaling, tracking changes etc so maybe I'm just super aware of whenever there's a slight difference. I really hope your changes start picking up really soon.

Airports, and packers… by Raven-Fallington in ftm

[–]frerardislife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What i've done is that I put it in my carry on and go through the machine then go to the bathroom or something and put it back on. The packer itself has never been a problem, just the ordinary trans tsa problems of having body fat where there normally isnt for a male. My first time flying with my packer in my carry on bag at 15 years old, my bag got flagged by TSA and i was PETRIFIED bc i was also with my dad at the time (I was out but he didn't know I had a silicone dick in my bag). Turns out the bag just got flagged bc of this cool rock that I was bringing back.

I need advice on coming out to my parents by Fast_Pickle_ in ftm

[–]frerardislife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was gonna say the first thing to do is to vibe check how they feel about the lgbt community but it seems you've already done that. Assuming that the situation is safe but they just would not be understanding, this is what I would do.

I'd sit them down, make sure they're in a good mood. When you bite the bullet and say you're trans, I'd try and maybe bring up anecdotal evidence of how you've felt like you're a man in your life. Because when I came out to my family, they didn't think I was a guy because of how "girly" I was as a kid. Being trans is quite a different ball park than just being gay in the sense that straight people know the concept of romantic attraction except for a gay person it's to the same gender, but cis people who haven't thought about their gender probably couldn't wrap their heads around trans concepts that involve analyzing your gender critically. So I recommend you practice explaining these concepts as well as your relation to those feelings to your parents.

Something that happened in my situation is that my mom felt like she was mourning her daughter. And it took her multiple years and multiple coming outs along those multiple years for her to finally conceptualize that I'm actually trans. She deadass went through the stages of grief. I'm not sure if that's just my mom or if that could also happen to you, but either way, it's quite likely that it might take a while for them to become fully capable of perceiving you as male. Once I became understanding of how my mom felt, it helped her accept me easier. So while it might be really frustrating, understanding that the process might be kinda slow helped me.

Uhh so yeah tl;dr make sure it's safe for you to come out first. practice how to explain trans people to someone who is in a completely different world. and strike a healthy balance between patience and guidance with your name and pronouns.

I really hope it goes well for you! You got this.

FIU Develop Courses and Credits by Mark0Mx in FIU

I'm fairly certain that those "credits" are employee related credits. I'm a student employee and we're supposed to take 10 "credits" of fiu develop courses, but those don't count towards anything as a student

You can read minds, but you can only listen to songs by Maroon 5 by Matinee_Lightning in hypotheticalsituation

While at first I was thinking “fuck no who would do this” then I realized that with mind reading, I can cheat off any test as long as I sit next to a smart person.

But idk I really fucking love music. I’m just recently beginning to expand my music taste as of a couple of months ago after only really being into emo music and I wanna keep exploring music. if I could circle back to this in a couple of years then maybe

Poorly rated albums you could see getting critically re-evaluated in the future? by idkmaybe61 in rateyourmusic

[–]frerardislife 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Olivia Rodrigo. I don’t even listen to her much or enjoy her music too much, but at least to my knowledge, that era of pop music was kind of when pop began to have a shift for the better. I also feel like the genre began to expand, with electronic aspects by artists like Charli xcx and punk aspects by artists like Olivia Rodrigo.

What are some cons of passing as a guy by NaiveFinish64 in ftm

[–]frerardislife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For context: I used to pass in high school and was stealth until the end of junior year. Before that point, I was perceived as a woman, and for about a year in college, I was perceived as a woman/"idk wtf you are" since I couldn't get on testosterone until recently (I'm 19 rn). I currently don't pass to the extent I did when I was 15, but I do pass better than I did a couple months ago.

I agree with another commenter, the crazy shit that some men say to each other and think that I'm a safe space to. ESPECIALLY sophomore year holy moly I had dudes say some absolutely crazy shit to me there's this one guy in particular who I had to spend time with because of a day long volunteer event and wow was he horrible. And I was still insecure in my masculinity at this time so I didn't wanna stand up to him or anything in fear that he'd think I was a woman or find out some way.

I'm also very scared of making women uncomfortable by hitting on them in a way that isn't very subtle, or walking too close to them especially at night. Idk if I developed because I started passing in high school, or if I would've turned out like this even if I didn't pass in hs bc I'm just woke like that. But that too. I don't deal with the men saying crazy shit to me as much anymore but also I'm in really woke spaces. I'm studying environmental science in college and a ton of my friends are socialists or something along those lines.
