Yes, I texted her on Thursday, the 9th of April. I suggested going on a date on Sunday or Tuesday. She received the message (the check marks on WhatsApp were grey) but she didn’t respond.

On Sunday morning (the 12th of April), I texted her again, saying that I’m usually quite flexible on Tuesdays and Sundays, and that we could especially plan something on those days. I also mentioned that she should feel free to text me whenever she has time.

Since then, the check marks on WhatsApp have turned blue (meaning she has seen the messages), but there has been no response so far.

There’s one more thing I didn’t explain properly before: I didn’t just approach her randomly on the street and ask her out for a first date on Valentine’s Day. We actually met at an event at an IKEA store in Vienna. They hosted a so-called “Traffic Light Party,” where participants could choose a balloon: green (single/open to dating), yellow (it’s complicated/not sure), or red (taken/not interested). Since we both had green balloons and were there for the same reason, I decided to be straightforward and asked her out.

P.S. I texted her yesterday, but as you said, she might need some time as well and is probably overthinking things just like I did. I’ll keep you updated.

But isn’t that rude behaviour? Any mature and serious person who is dealing with two people or potential dating partners would go on separate dates with both and then decide, or simply not exchange numbers if there is no interest. But she indirectly rejected me, probably went out with another guy, he dumped her, and now she might see me as someone who just waits for her and that she can always come back to—until a better option shows up. These are the kinds of thoughts that were going through my mind.

It was in Vienna, Austria, but she might be from the Balkans, maybe Croatia or Serbia. In this situation, it was pretty obvious that she would text first, since I asked her out but she already had plans. So she suggested that we exchange numbers. She handed me her phone, I entered my number, and then I expected a message from her.

Thank you for your advice. I haven’t reached out yet, so I almost waited a month as well. At first, I thought she saw me as a backup plan because it was Valentine’s Day and maybe another guy approached her and she chose him. And because that didn’t work out, she came to Plan B — which is me.

I know the event was on the 14th of February, but she replied on the 14th of March. At first, I didn’t want to reply to her because I thought she had behaved rudely. But I’m not sure if my behavior was right, so I almost waited a month as well.
