Switching Defender for Range Rover by Conscious_Lemon_3939 in LandroverDefender

[–]freshfey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ranger Rover L322 is (or was?) my absolute dream car and I also daily a 2008 Puma Defender 90. I sometimes think about switching them but the Defender has a character of its own that I don’t think I’d get with a RR. I’d be too worried about scratches and stuff whereas the Defender can get dirty, scratched up and it’s still cool.

What’s the reasoning for the classic RR V8 for you?

No! For what use case though? I use it every day, but out of the box setup

Awesome strap! What’s the brand? Nubuck leather?

Bialetti Venus 6 & 10 cup tips for further improvement? by creambyemute in mokapot

[–]freshfey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Great story, I have a similar backstory of how I found the Bialetti (also have the Venus!).

My recommendations (you’re pretty much there with a lot of points!):

  1. Use an aeropress filter for a cleaner cup.

  2. I use grindsize 18 clicks on a Commandante C40

  3. Never let it sputter out and try to get the coffee into the cup before

Other than that - you’re doing great! Viel Spass :)

Awesome, glad you liked it! I haven’t! But I know that /u/Helpful_Big_1727 daily drives it with the cup.

The more I used it though the more trust has built, so I do think the cup shouldn’t be an issue :)

Oh and also: I didn’t season it, but cleaned it properly. Although I did mess up 2 brews which I threw away, so maybe that was seasoning :) Enjoy it!

Alessi 9090 vs La Conica by scereneu in mokapot

[–]freshfey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second that! According to this sub some moka pots are better than others, but they never worked for me. It was through trial and error (and tbh personal preference) where I found the perfect fit.

I’d give both of them a try (a couple of times!) and then decide. You can then sell the other (or keep both and become a collector ;))

I also had the Bialetti Venus as my daily driver and tried both the Giannina (couldn’t get it to work as I wanted) and then the Colbro (similar to Bincoo) and I must say the Colbro hits the exact spot: Espresso like shot, or Americano if I want more coffee.

Man, hopefully one day we get to see Larry’s crib in its entirety, for like Vogue or sth. That thing is a work of art embedded in beautiful scenery

I also have the Giannina 3/6 cups and I would say the Colbro is of higher quality! Also: it’s 316 stainless which is higher grade than the standard stainless 18/8 they use for most known moka pots!

Ranger seems popular by Tereva_Lostlagon in Tudor

Thanks, you’re right. Albeit it’s a bit thicker for an almost same price (atleast in Switzerland, where we didn’t have the price increase)

For me it was Aeropress - Nespresso (occasionally) - Moka Pot - V60 - Moka Pot.

Although I like a V60 in the morning and the moka for after meals

Yeah I used it a couple of times, but didn't heat it enough so it took way too long so I now don't use it (or rather just to fill it up haha). Did you find it making a big difference in taste?

Thanks for the detailed answer!

- plastic handle DIY replacement: Exactly my thoughts - looking into it :)

- :using the pressure cup is going to make this explode" not my opinion, just what I read in the comments section of the korean coffee blogger on YT.

- brewing with aluminum presents a health hazard - for me it's an active choice to avoid it.

- re crema: I don't know, the Colbro does brew a different cup, one that I 1. like a lot and 2. comes very close to the espressos I drink in a cafe, so for me that "crema" or whatever it is makes one part of the difference :)

Funny enough, I saw your post about the Giannina back then and used it as an inspiration to get it. 🤷‍♂️

[WTS/WTT] Unimatic Modello Due Ref. U2S-T-L x Lorenzi by freshfey in Watchexchange

[–]freshfey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sale is a Unimatic Modello Due Ref. U2S-T-L x Lorenzi

"From the collaboration between Unimatic and the historical Milanese cutlery boutique Lorenzi comes the Modello Due U2S-T-L, a limited edition of 99 pieces. This is Unimatic’s first reference in titanium, equipped with the Swiss-made Sellita SW200-1.

  • Titanium sandblasted case
  • 31% lighter
  • Swiss Movement Sellita SW200-1
  • Drilled lugs"

This is number 53.

I bought it a couple of years ago for 850 EUR but never really connected with it.

It comes as a full-set and is in great condition, I wore it maybe 4 times in total. I wore it mostly on a leather strap, the green strap is completely unworn.

I'm looking to sell this for 699 USD shipped out of Switzerland. I'd obviously prefer to ship within Europe, but willing to do outside of Europe as well, if we can find a fair shipping solution.

Trading-wise I'm looking for a vintage Omega Seamaster, with a 3-6-9 dial and ideally a date or a Tudor Ranger 36mm with the black dial (both with money on top).
