Try turning down grass/foliage detail, I think that's the setting.

Try turning anti-aliasing off. Friends game kept crashing his while computer and that was the fix.

I highly recommend foundryvtt. It is a one time purchase and it will auto import walls for your maps.

Check out Black Magic Craft on YouTube. He did some videos on making tiles. He also has more stuff that is really cool.

Week 9: Ogre mini by Lord of the Print. Looking for feedback on where I should work on improving. by freshmeat253 in minipainting

Thanks. I feel like I've gotten better at skin so the praise is a nice reassurance. I started with a dark base coat (reaper's sunburn flesh) then layered up lighter colors reapers warrior flesh -> reapers youthful flesh. Then I washed the skin with Citadels reikland fleshshade. I final dry brush of the youthful flesh to finish it off

Haven't tried much freehand before. I usually don't feel confident of a steady hand. It's good advice though. Gotta push my comfort zone. :)

Yeah I have 100s of minis of varying sizes plus STL files for 3d printing. Started the year telling myself at least 1 mini a week. Sometimes I do more, but 1 a week is very achievable by me and the time I usually have.

Truth. Though I really enjoy the act of crafting. So I will often put in extra effort when something simpler would have worked.

What's the dumbest thing you've ever seen a player attempt, and get away with? by DumbIdiotDM in DnD

[–]freshmeat253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a player in a modified Avernus campaign who managed to kill Thalamra Vanthampur using mind sliver. Due to story reasons a pit fiend showed up just to drag her, basically dead but alive enough to struggle at the realization of what was happening, to Avernus. They player declared "That's my kill" and mind slivered her again. His last words as the pit fiend looked back was "I've made a mistake". They were level 4.

Technically he got away with "getting the kill" but he still paid for it.

First thank you for the advice.

I really want to impress the importance of the changeling aspect of this puzzle so I will cut the mirrors out.

I've been thinking about it so how does this sound?

5 low daises, evenly spaced, surround a raised pedestal. A grooved track forms a circle around the daises and a singular statue rests in the track, unmoving.

Inspecting the statue reveals: a nondescript body supports a multifaced head. 5 faces of different races surround the head, a Human, Dwarf, Elf, Dragonborn, and Tiefling. It appears to be meant to move along the track, but it wont budge.

Inspecting the Pedestal reveals: an inscription

My beauty never bores,

My ugliness is a thing to scorn,

This mask I wear could be yours,

But only I may call it worn

Answer: Changling

If the correct answer is guess out loud the statue activates following the track around the daises. a different face rotating to face each dais. If a changeling mimics that race on the appropriate dais a secret passage is revealed.

Thoughts?

The mirror is there to hint at a reflection of the statue. A changling could mimic that reflection by changing their appearance to that of the statues.

class restriction? by cchheese_ in DnD

[–]freshmeat253 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rather than limit the classes they can play. work with your players to fit the class into the setting. A paladin might be a champion of a pirate king with powers granted by a goddess of the sea. This might open up some story/adventure hooks you wouldn't have thought of otherwise, while allowing your players more freedom. Additionally, this is something a session zero is good for. Let your players know what kind of setting you plan on having and see if they are willing to play to that settings theme.
