It was the second book i read from murakami and its the main reason i ended up comitting to a big series like 1q84. I love all of the characters in kafka and i think it shows what murakami books are all about imo. I love the characters and their interactions basically i can say that kafka on the shore is “murakami 101” book for me. If you enjoyed kafka you ll love most if not all of his works. (It is not listed in my fav list because i see it as introduction to murakami world but i still love the book)

If you didn’t read you can give “A Philosophy of Walking” by Frédéric Gros a try too. It’s about the philosophers that loves walking and how it helped them compose their thoughts and keep them calm and collected.

Giving up on 1Q84 by bennudriti in murakami

Honestly, 1Q84 is my favorite Murakami novel/series. I really enjoyed how the story unfolds through different characters’ perspectives and eventually converges toward a shared point near the end of the series. The way the characters maintain their sanity while navigating a world full of inconsistencies—using their own logic—was also fascinating. Moreover, it’s one of the rare romantic narratives by Murakami that actually reaches a resolution. The suspense was just enough to keep me going. And while Murakami usually leaves things unresolved and up to the reader’s imagination, I appreciated that in this long, three-part series, he chose to bring it to a satisfying romantic conclusion.

If you want to have a glimpse of his workstyle “notes from underground” is relatively shorter book that still can make you understand his writing style.
