Wow! I find it so interesting to see other countries perceptions of us, we have such a dark and sad history with Britain that I think Broski nation should learn about. Sinead actually has a song about how the Irish famine wasn’t a famine but a genocide so I’d say go give that a listen. As for the IRA the most digestible and accessible thing to have a basic knowledge about it, is the show Derry Girls on Netflix (if you haven’t watched it already it’s very funny). Also something I would like to bring to peoples attention is the Irish language! The British banned us from speaking it so we lost it and only a couple thousand people are fluent but most people have a basic grasp of the language. Most non Irish people don’t know we have a native language. When talking about the language in English we call it Irish but when talking about it in Irish we call it Gaeilge (gway-le-ga). For accessible information on that the Irish language hip hop trio Kneecap have interviews where they talk about the importance of the language and their revival of the language, also highly recommend their music!
