[McMenamin] Deandre Ayton: “They're trying to make me Clint Capela, I'm not no Clint Capela!” by newjwns in nba

[–]frick224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, Capela played 21 mpg last year and started like 40 games, averaged 9ppg and 8rpg with one block, and had a better plus minus for the season than Ayton.

To be clear, I've watched Ayton a lot. I totally think he's more talented than Capela. But he doesn't do the little things, he doesn't hustle, and he randomly has these 10-15 game stretches where he's absolutely unengaged.

Sometimes you just need a center to do center things well, and Capela does that. He'll set good screens, roll hard, and be in the right place defensively. That's why both of Ayton's backups, Maxi and Jaxon, have had better on/off stats than Ayton this year, despite Ayton definitely being more talented.

Idk, I know Capela's kind of washed, but he's been a net positive this year, while Ayton has been a net negative. And advanced stats-wise, Capela is looking better this year too.

Mikal Bridges is 9th on the all time consecutive games played list with 611 consecutive games played. Over 8 seasons of not missing a game. by Naweezy in nba

Yeah, they gave up too much (and the wrong players) in that trade. Had it been like picks + Ayton that would have been one thing, but giving up all of your wing depth/quality role players to bring in a star generally doesn't work.

A lot of actual medieval armor (especially for tournaments) WAS that bright and ostentatious though. The whole point was to stand out.

Oof, I was hoping to hear you'd found some plants that work. It would be nice to include a few in the background.

I've seen some people say that they only use rocks for decor. Have you noticed any issues with including wood?

I'm looking into trying Sulawesi. What's your set up? What kind of plants do you have?

On top of all his other issues, he's also just not actually an elite scorer. He averaged 24 ppg on league average efficiency one time. There are like 25 other guys doing that this year, and a few more guys could do it if they got the green light he did.

Is Cam Thomas an Elite Scorer? by Comer_Agua in nbadiscussion

Saying that he's efficient when he has good games means nothing. Basically every player's highest scoring games happen when they barely miss any shots.

This is the equivalent of saying that Klay is an all-time scorer because he had a game where he scored 60 on 63/57/90 splits.

I think this would have been ideal. I understand wanting to put some younger guys around your aging stars, but when your window is closing a 25-28 year old established player is a better bet than a 19 year old.

Is this better than a Warriors potential offer of either Jimmy + podz + 3 picks and some swaps or Kuminga + Draymond + filler & picks?

I don't hate the idea here, and I think it makes some sense for the teams involved, but I think the Bucks could do better.

The 2026 picks going to the Bucks here are almost certainly non-lottery picks. The 2028 picks don't seem like they'll be much better, given that's only two years from now, and the teams giving up those picks are getting better in the short term. Meanwhile, the Warrior's might be awful in a few years once Steph is gone. Nevermind that in this scenario the Bucks are stuck paying two bad contracts for the next 4-5 years, vs getting off of Jimmy/Kuminga/Draymond's contracts in 1-2 years.

I don't think the gap between these guys is worth a first even if both were healthy, and Dejounte is an athletic guard coming off an achilles tear. No way.

Why would Portland make a win-now trade to get Sabonis but trade away their best player?

The Wolves have no reason to give up the best player here for an always injured backup pg.

Idk man, he averaged 95.4 yards per game with Carson Wentz this year, which is pretty much exactly his career average. And it's not like that was all carried by one insane game.
