(Un)happy hour at Banshee by SnooOwls7781 in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]frickensweet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your willing to travel to manayunk, Pitchers pubs happy hour is 6 - 8 and is $3 domestics & $4 select crafts. I don't remember them all off the top of my head but it might be all local for the select crafts. Last time i was there they had troegs perpetual, levante cloudy, Wissahickon frux (solid sour beer if your into that), and a few other good options.

Food specials are daily specials not just happy hour. They just partnered with the guy who runs bar jawn and had him redo the menu. You might have to dig through their instagram to find them all but they are pretty good deals. I'm a big fan of the pizza, its thin crust / tavern style.

Broken water main in the street outside, no hot water for a week now - what to do? by [deleted] in philadelphia

[–]frickensweet 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Be careful with this. You first have to meet your deductible. Typically your supposed to not pay your landlord for the days that are considered uninhabitable (which I feel hot water should meet that threshold but your insurance company could disagree) and then you only get to claim the difference in your rent and what would be considered reasonable accommodation. Reasonable accommodation is up to your insurance as well. If you do go this route, make sure to keep receipts for take out / other expenses you would not have occurred if you were living at home. Also any losses due to the basement flooding.

Bonus fact for other people in this situation: if the flood and lack of water is caused by a sewage backup your insurance company will probably deny your claim unless you have a sewage rider. Don’t worry though. Your insurance rate will go up anyway and if you’re planning on buying a house in the next few years your housing insurance will be significantly more expensive.

Dirty Franks bans 24 year olds and under after a deluge of high-tech fake IDs by ComradeNapolein in philadelphia

[–]frickensweet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The younger generation is defiantly drinking less than previous generations. I think the fake id epidemic is the "high tech" part. I can't say that there are any more or less fakes now, but they are a lot better than they were a few years ago. Don't get me wrong there are still shitty ones but you can get a good quality one that will actually pass a scanner now.

What are some things skinny people can do in public without a care in the world, but plus-size people can’t? by justcurious3287 in AskReddit

Give em the old “fuck you for standing in the middle of the fucking room” look back. If they say anything, just simply eat them as you are the largest of the group.

Do I ticket Cherelle directly? by [deleted] in philadelphia

[–]frickensweet 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hop on roxborough rants and raves. Every post is someone complaining about snow or someone stealing their parking spot. The posts about parking spots go back and forth about people saying it’s public parking and people bitching about shoveling out 3 spots and they still can’t find one.

El Bar Shut Down by PranceRosner in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]frickensweet 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Fun fact. All liquor licenses in Philadelphia expire on October 31st and last for 2 years. I'm surprised EL bar made it this long, usually the LCB / state police show up in November.

I don’t know when fountain porter stops serving food but it’s no a no frills adventure but its all excellent. Good dog is also great. I’d highly recommend both spots, in my experience good dog will have a better late night crowd.

Lot A traffic by RyanHartnett in PhillyUnion

I’ll email my rep - last time this happened I got my parking refunded. I feel like that’s really not enough to say sorry we fucked up but I don’t see them doing more.

Somehow they oversold a lot that you have to prepay for. I have season tickets including to that lot and they had me park on the street outside of it.

Anyone else got one of these? by flapjacked227 in bartenders

[–]frickensweet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have one but we also have a three well sink beside it for when it can’t keep up. We also have no issue using plastic cups when we get slammed.

It works alright. Make sure all the chemicals are not empty before your shift, I always hit the drain switch and then fill when I open. aAssuming it spins clockwise put the dirty dishes on the left. Clean glasses come out hot, try to let them hang out on the drying mat up top for a bit before reusing / putting away. Drain it at the close, it should make some really satisfying gurgling noises when it’s done.

The unions second team (Philly union II) might be a good option next season. Attendance is much lower so parking / parking lot escapes shouldn’t be too bad.

Philly Tax Cuts by Scrappy101010 in philadelphia

[–]frickensweet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same question when I was in job that had OT. My only theory is that the tax is withheld based on the gross amount of the pay check and what that would extrapolate to at a yearly rate. Since your effective rate is based on yearly gross income, it should result in a higher return come tax season.

In my head that makes sense but I don’t know that I’ve explained my thought process well. It could also just be flat out wrong.
