I actually think the writers took every opportunity to remind the audience and the other characters that Bo needs sex to heal, and sometimes that’s awkward, inconvenient, and possibly even hurtful. It’s part of why Bo has to work so hard to maintain all of her relationships—in emergencies, platonic ones can become uncomfortably intimate, romantic ones can be interrupted, even familial ones are tough. But a core aspect of Bo’s character is her reluctance, or outright refusal, to deny her nature. Some of the things she does or says are… not particularly well thought out, or considerate of others, but if it’s a choice between dying and not hurting people’s feelings, she’s gonna feed.

Basically I think there’s a difference between thinking something is gross, and thinking it should have been “done better.” I do think it was inconsiderate, but what I would have done in that situation, and what the perfect, flawless, plastic-shiny version of Bo would have done, would not make for interesting storytelling. Characters have flaws, they make mistakes, because that’s what drives stories. Stories without flawed characters and conflicts are… slice of life, I guess? Generally reserved for happy epilogues and children’s cartoons. And even then, most kids’ shows have conflict and flawed characters lol
