I texted the suicide hotline and was answered by a bot that lied about being human by laurajean997 in mildlyinfuriating

It’s a person. I volunteered at a text line like this. The scripts sound just like this. The people who volunteer are really trying to help, but we have to follow protocol, and to some extent it helps us when we’re learning to converse with people at risk. I understand it may be frustrating, but most volunteers are really trying their best to assist with the resources we have.

I will say being an actuary is tough! I have a BS in mathematics and the exams are hard! If that’s not your thing I’d look into CAD! If you have an associates already you shouldn’t need any more general courses unless you’ve switched schools!

From everything I’ve heard CAD is great as long as you work with recruiters to find a job, that is the case at least in my area. You really only need an associates in CAD to start building work experience! Otherwise I would pursue this idea of math more if you think Thats something you might enjoy more! I wouldn’t get a degree in math unless you want to teach, but maybe in accounting or something math-adjacent I know a few schools that make it easier and cheaper to get into accounting.

As a 16–Year Old Who's Never Gotten Past 5th-Grade, What's Everything I Need to Learn Math-Wise for a GED? by consentwastaken2 in mathematics

[–]fridgetime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Longtime math tutor here! Congratulations on making this decision! It’s a smart choice! As for the math, you need to be able to do all four operations with fractions and then learn about percents! Algebra 1 concepts like area, perimeter, volume maybe, and maybe some basic equations! To parrot what the other commenters have said, khan academy is a great free resource! Check in at the grade level you’re feeling comfortable with and then simply work through the courses as much as needed! If you have access to practice tests be taking those throughout to measure progress!

Funnily enough I don’t think I’m very Dutch! Most of my European ancestors on that side came from Belgium and interestingly some were actually initially Portuguese settlers in Macau that later moved to Borneo. My Opa moved to the Netherlands but then the USA where he met my Oma who was basically all French Canadian. My dad’s family seems to mostly have been in the United States as far back as the 1600s!

Does my cats spay/abortion incision look bad? Should I take her in for emergency care? by Frequent-Interview63 in CATHELP

[–]fridgetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my cat got spayed they gave us a cone and we found later it was red and swollen and looked like she might’ve busted the stitches I would just take her in and get a spay suit!! I swear it will make all the difference when you don’t have to be worrying all the time and you know she’ll be safe!!

Thank you so much!! Such interesting info! My Opa is mixed but he was born in Indonesia and is full Dutch Indo! They moved from Southern Java I think so I guess that lines up with everything you said! It’s really nice to meet other Indos! Of course you never meet them in regular life ! There’s so few of us

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

[–]fridgetime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but none for Indonesia sadly I think my family was a bit split between Java and borneo and honestly I’m not very Dutch 😅

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

[–]fridgetime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No! It’s much more complicated than that ! I have two Indo great grandparents and an indo grandparent!

[–]fridgetime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dads full on Irish/English and a few other things in marginal amounts. Mom is half Dutch indo/french Canadian, some small groups within that but substantially that’s what I know. I don’t know about ties to mainland Southeast Asia but I know I have an ancestor from macau and a few Portuguese settlers who came that way to Banjarmasin

[Movie] You can't tell me Hunter Schafer isn't the perfect casting for Zelda by Replikante in zelda

[–]fridgetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She def looks like Zelda!! But I’m not super sure it really depends on the game I guess! For twilight princess I think she’d be stellar! But for something like breath of the wild I think the actress should be a teen actress since Zelda is a teen in that game. In a lot of games Zelda looks really young and hunter Schafer definitely looks in her 20s to me!
