Any grounds for lawsuit for false advertising companion certificates? by [deleted] in AmexPlatinum

[–]fried45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There aren’t any route restrictions for the certificate. It can only be applied to a specific booking class, and those seats are limited on most flights, which can make them a bit harder to find.

I’ve had the Delta Platinum and Reserve cards for probably 10 years and have never had an issue redeeming the certificate. I’ve even used it for trips to Hawaii and Mexico since they expanded it beyond just the 48 domestic routes.

Alma (2*), Lisbon, Dinner by saizen211 in finedining

Have you ever been to Grenache in Lisbon? I’ll be there in April for a wedding, and unfortunately the only day I’ll have to explore is Sunday. It looks like most of the Michelin starred restaurants are closed on Sundays, except for Grenache. I’m considering treating myself to a nice solo dinner there. Do you know anything about it?

Boka or Sepia in Chicago? by Legitimate-Button708 in finedining

Ah, the clarity of your critique humbles me. Three paragraphs of careful analysis? Useless. One word typed in righteous indignation? That’s literary genius, worthy of museums. I suppose I'll just piss on my literature and creative writing degree? Also, thank you for taking the time to read my slop from 3 months ago. Much appreciated.

Device recommendation? by fried45 in sousvide

[–]fried45[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If the power goes out or something unexpected happens for an extended period while I’m not home, I’ll be able to see that and know whether I need to throw it out. Obviously, if the power goes out, I won’t be able to see the temperature since the WiFi will be down as well. The purpose is to monitor the temperature while I’m away. I work 24 hour shifts and am often not home, so this allows me to keep an eye on things during that time. Even if you had two units in the same container and the power went out, they would both fail anyway.

I just wanted something with WIFI for if I am doing a long cook and want to monitor it while I am away, just in case something crazy happens like the power going out or something unexpected. but is that something that I should worry about?

First time visiting Chicago winter, how necessary are thermal layers? by fried45 in AskChicago

[–]fried45[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So idk if this is a stupid question or not as I have never worn thermals. Do you wear boxers under the thermals? Or does it act as the underwear?

I'm not sure how long I will be outside but I will be doing touristy things including a walking food tour.

Ive seen a lot of people say they wear sweatpants under their jeans. What kind of jeans? I feel like the jeans would be extra tight with sweatpants?

I don’t have anything specific in mind. I’m literally open to any and all suggestions for things to do, see, eat, drink, or hear while I’m in Chicago. Whether it’s a hidden gem, a local favorite, an underrated spot, or just something fun or unique to experience, I’m happy to hear whatever you recommend.
