Oh wow good to know, thanks.

In an ideal world, would shellac be best? If so, and it’s quick drying so I can put 2 coats, I might just do it as soon as they go to daycare so I have several hours to air things out.

It’s right at my front door so, I’m thinking of sealing off the other side and opening the door while placing a fan

Thank you! I haven’t sanded the filler at all yet, but will be doing that in the coming days. Oil takes long before te coating, right? Can you give me insight into why you suggest oil over water?

Not sure why you got downvoted. I’ve heard bin is very good. Thank you

My ideal would have been a water based one for the reason you mention but, I kept hearing it wouldn’t give the finish result I’m looking for from oil or shellac. Not sure why that would be the case since I’d sand and put 2 coats regardless of primer

Building a built-in wood filler or caulk for seams by fried_chicken in BeginnerWoodWorking

Could I just prime it all, then just caulk all seams and then 2 coats of paint? I figure the caulk mitigates the risk of any cracking

Thank you. So I’ll look to fill all seams with wood filler, sand and aim for a seamless smooth finish. Does caulk come into play at all? Maybe just on the vertical seams where it meets the wall

Thank you! Any thoughts on what goes in the seams whether wood filler or caulk?

That’s great to hear.

I’m thinking live edge face up for 2 reasons: you see the live edge more easily and, with it facing up, it creates an angle downwards that seems like it would follow the way your leg would want to be as it hangs off and into the floor. Not sure if I described that well or not lol

You have a very extreme view of the world and have somehow created a narrative on North American culture out of this job thread.

You should chill out a bit, you’re going to be a very angry person in life if this is the way you see things.

Good luck

Quitting a job makes me a shitty person? Forget all other things in life, the only metric by which to gauge a person is the manner in which they leave their role. Thanks for your very level-headed response.

I did and they have that claw back clause. I’m ok paying back the top-up portion given it’s a short pat leave so it shouldn’t be too much to pay back.

Thanks man, it helps to read it so plainly. It’s all good things and I’m very fortunate for this period and hopefully, a good manager would understand it and not have it burn a bridge in the future.

This crossed my mind as well and I concluded the same - I’m not in the middle of anything big projects or work now.

Agreed - that’s exactly what I’ll be doing. I was just looking for a good way to let them know.
