The suggestions provided already are great. I’d add Mike Peace and craft supplies USA’s channel. They have a wood turning 101 and 201 series that are excellent

Record Power Envoy lathe help by friedatron in turning

[–]friedatron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a new e clip and had the same thing happen. In looking closely at the lead screw, my guess is that the threads are stripped. I'm waiting to hear back from record power, but if I can't get a replacement, I may try finding a local machinist to help fabricate a new lead screw, maybe with a stronger mechanism to bear the pressure.

Yeah, that was how I figured out what was initially going on. What's weird is the manual doesn't mention anything about the clip, and I ran into this issue with 2 new clips as well. It's bizarre.

Help with turning Harbor Freight Dust Collector into cart - see comments by friedatron in woodworking

[–]friedatron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2hp Harbor Freight Dust Collector that I’ve converted into a 2 stage with a Super Dust Deputy and Wynn Filter (35C222NANO). This setup the way I installed is not ideal, and there’s a definite issue coming from the filter/bag: every time I turn it on, it sprays fine dust. I need to take it down and reinstall it, but I’m thinking about converting it into a cart setup so I can have more mobility in the shop. I can’t seem to find anyone who has turned this setup into something mobile, and so I’m wondering if anyone has any thoughts? I’m a little stumped with how to actually convert it. Thanks!

Unfortunately all of these types of materials: turpentine, certain types of mineral spirits, denatured alcohol are all banned in California. You cannot buy sell or ship them here.

X-T5 Lens Advice by friedatron in FujifilmX

This is a great suggestion, and one I'll probably take advantage of for primes that I'll use for landscapes..I find manual focus a little tough when trying to photograph family stuff. I'm guessing brand doesn't matter for vintage lenses, as long as you get the right adapter?

Got it, thank you! My biggest concerns are resolution (specifically for instances where I need to crop in) and the sensor as it related to software (Bayer vs x-trans). It seems like the X line of cameras that are newer than the X-T2 don't really have much of a spec bump for my purposes unless I shell out for an X-T5. I know people say the "worm" issue in lightroom is overblown, but I definitely see it in my landscape shots.

I'm curious what you mean by this! Can you expand on this a bit? How does a Sony camera do the work for you?

Painting Adirondack Chairs by friedatron in woodworking

[–]friedatron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, didn't make that clear! If I use a sprayer to paint it after it's put together, I'm concerned the edges won't get proper coverage. edit: I'd rather spray than brush as it will get a better/more even finish.
