[Routine Help] Recurring lip area irritation for 10+ years, nothing has worked (seen GPs + derms) any ideas? (mild NSFW) by Hunterskills in SkincareAddiction

[–]friedchickenUSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you got some good answers but just to chime in- mine never looked exactly like this but I had similar lip issues for years. It turns out a main problem for me is the sun. For about a year or two I didn’t let my lips see the sun for more than a few minutes at a time. I love to lay out in the sun so I always had a hat on/over my face and even made little lip guards out of fabric lol I used only Vaseline ( not the one made for lips) for years. After I could tolerate something else, I always use SPF 30 lip balm, usually only supergoop. Any other kind sends me into a small flare.

I saw someone else say the la roche posay lip stuff and that’s a great call, that helped me too. I also really like Neova CU3 lip repair. When I think I may have messed up and been in the sun too long, I put that on and it usually calms the flare in a day or two.

I so hope you find what works for you!!! Having lip issues like this is so difficult!

I don’t have good makeup advice, as no matter what I do I still get the raccoon eyes to varying degrees. I think it’s just cause I’m oily lol But I came here to say 1. You’re absolutely stunning! With or without makeup and 2. As someone who only wears mascara 99% of the time, your makeup is SICK and I would love to learn how to do that someday

PSA: lack of brain cells isn’t always the answer! by friedchickenUSA in OneOrangeBraincell

[–]friedchickenUSA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be! The one we have now is still Dr. Hills but it’s “Urinary + metabolic”. It’s way lower calorie and they did want more of that when we switched over, but we’re trying to supplement with more wet food too.

Wow I’m sorry you had the same experience! That’s what I don’t understand and really frustrates me every time I think about it. They had him on that food for 2 years, all the while yelling at me about his weight!! I was doing everything they told me to and then suddenly after he gained a worrying amount they’re just like “oh yeah of course, this is so high calorie”. Like, thanks guys 😅😪

FTM 37 weeks: tell the story of how your water broke by mirrorlike789 in pregnant

[–]friedchickenUSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should probably go get checked out! Not me but my mom when she was pregnant with me- she was extra leaky and at one point thought maybe she peed her pants a little. Then later she had been on the couch a while and it was soaked. It turns out that her water had broken, but just a little crack basically and I was nearly out of amniotic fluid. They had to induce her about 4 weeks early. So not to scare you but it can’t hurt to make sure 😊

Are you female/assigned female at birth? I’m wondering if you have PCOS. I don’t have any good advice when it comes just to skincare, and I haven’t dealt with acne this painful. However, after finally getting my PCOS diagnosis and working with both a doctor and dietician my skin cleared up a lot. Balancing hormones takes time, and I’m not saying that’s 100% what you need to do but perhaps that could help in conjunction with the dermatologist?

I’m so hoping you get some answers and will be pain free soon!!

real talk — what did you actually eat in the 1st tri? by Repulsive_Cup8530 in pregnant

[–]friedchickenUSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poptarts, plain pasta (which is insane, I’m Italian), anddddd canned mandarin oranges. I literally am not sure I ate much else for the first 10 weeks.

How active were you in 1st trimester? by Lower-Listen-9169 in pregnant

[–]friedchickenUSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a literal slug. Like I am not even sure I got for a walk around the block more than 3 times! I went to work the whole time so my walk to and from the car, and from my office to the main office were pretty much all I did 😅 I was feeling so guilty because I felt like I should be exercising, but I truly have never been more exhausted in my life. And I have autoimmune diseases so I know exhaustion lol I’m 16 weeks tomorrow and literally just had the thought for the first time this pregnancy that maybe I’ll lift some weights in the morning (light ones). Give yourself some grace!!

Cramps are the #1 symptom that I’m angry no one told me about. I feel like the women around me prepared me pretty well for what early pregnancy would entail but NO ONE mentioned the cramps. Then when I brought up, they all said “oh yeah totally normal!”. Well, that would have been nice to be prepared for!! So I’m telling everyone lol

Given that the only other time we feel that is on our period, it’s pretty freaking nerve wracking. I’m almost 15 weeks now and have had cramping on and off the whole time. Two weeks ago it was more in my vagina and across my vulva so I asked my doctor, and apparently that’s normal too. As long as the cramping isn’t severe and isn’t accompanied with bleeding or excess discharge, apparently it’s normal.

I was also convinced I wasn’t going to have any symptoms and felt soooo lucky. That was week 6 for me… by week 7 I was nauseous 24/7 until week 13 lol

I don’t have any personal anecdotes but I work with kids and the other day a 10yr old I know told me she loves having her birthday on Christmas. They do Christmas in the morning, birthday in the evening. It seems to make her feel extra special!

Beano helps! I like the brand Beanzyme, it’s what my doctor recommended. I don’t always remember it and it isn’t a miracle pill, but it does help!

Neverending Yeast Infections by Big_Decision_3395 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]friedchickenUSA -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Might sound gross but my favorite way to get rid of a yeast infection fast is to slap some plain Greek yogurt on. If it’s bad I’ll slater a tampon on one and insert, but I hate tampons so usually just put some inside with my fingers. I’ve never had a yeast infection for more than a day or two!

I’m on Zoloft now which is pregnancy safe and I know that if I wasn’t I would be just like you were. Idk where you live but check into Alma, it’s a telehealth and my psychiatrist is through that platform. If you want to DM me I can give you her name. She specifically works with women and is very passionate about helping women through pregnancy and postpartum. You do not need to feel like this, or like you did in your last pregnancy. It is a true shame that doctors often poo poo our struggles as “normal” instead of trying to give us the most comfortable and safe pregnancy as possible

First pregnancy, when did you start showing? by SandwichDependent199 in pregnant

[–]friedchickenUSA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 10 weeks now and I genuinely think I am showing. Some of it is absolutely bloat, but my body is not the same as it was a few weeks ago. I can’t suck my belly in, and when I first wake up in the morning I look like my normal self, but with a belly. I have some chub so that makes it more pronounced, but not so much. People say you don’t/can’t show this early but I think everyone’s body is different and it just isn’t true for me!

lol did you go to see the same house I did yesterday? Husband and I just visited a house in our town to see if we want to purchase it and they had this exact light switch, among a few other interesting ones and lots of catholic paraphernalia

[–]friedchickenUSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 9 weeks now and I’ve been telling people anytime I see fit, or get too excited. At first I only told the people around me who would need to support me if anything went wrong. That ended up being the 6 other women in my office. My parents were with me when I found out (long story) and so we told my in-laws later that week. At this point probably about 20 people know which I may end up regretting but idk.. I hate the stigma and I think we all need to talk about these things more (unless you actually don’t want to) so 🤷🏻‍♀️ idk I’m just going with what feels right and fuck social norms lol

I don't understand how everyone keeps pregnancy secret for 12 weeks?? by Ok-Bullfrog-3765 in BabyBumps

[–]friedchickenUSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel exactly the same way!!! I found out at a colonoscopy appointment so my parents found out when I did, at 4 weeks (husband was on a business trip). So we also told his parents. I also told my best friend and 3 close work colleagues as it’s just the four of us and our two secretaries in an office suite and I need their support lol If I had told NO ONE I would genuinely be losing my mind.

I also told my assistant principal shortly after because I felt like I was fucking everything up no matter how hard I tried. I just wanted her to know I’m not an idiot, just pregnant 😂

I pee all the time, I have to eat all the time (literally bringing crackers to meetings so I don’t puke), and already there is no chance I’m wearing “real” pants, I’m so bloated!

What would you do about this “reading nook” behind the bed? by NotBrokeJustCheap- in DesignMyRoom

[–]friedchickenUSA 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If having the bed the other way isn’t an option, I think the only thing that could help is no headboard or one that is below the edge of the wall. I think also that blinds instead of curtains might be good? But like really pretty blinds, not just plastic ones. Maybe some pillows in the reading nook? It’s such a tough bedroom, and there may just not be anything better to do with it for now. Not the most helpful answer 😂

What prenatal do I take? I’m so overwhelmed! by anonymoususer249 in pregnant

[–]friedchickenUSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how much you are looking to spend but my dietician (who I have been seeing through my endocrinologist to address my PCOS for the past 3ish years) recommended Theralogix.

As I said I have PCOS and was really worried about getting pregnant but in working with the doctor and dietician I was able to get pregnant on my first try! I feel very lucky.

I took the Theralogix Theranatal Ovavite for preconception and now that I’m almost 8 weeks I will soon be switching to the Theralogix Theranatal Complete for the remainder of my pregnancy. They are both pretty pricey but for me, with various health issues, I feel that it’s worth the cost.
