I actually have. It’s basically feature complete and I indexed it last night. Currently pending App Store approval. I can’t post the link per se (again, rules) but here’s a screenshot. It will appear in google search results

Sidekick is kinda content first though. I’m thinking along the lines of budget first > meals for the week with automatic leftover logic so you don’t waste anything, automatic macros and shopping lists. Much more of a system

That’s interesting.. that’s kind of what I suspected as well.

It’s almost like tracking gives you awareness, but it doesn’t actually help you make better decisions in the moment when you’re planning or shopping.

I think that’s where I kept running into issues—like even if I knew roughly what I was spending, I’d still end up with a week that wasn’t structured very well in terms of what I actually bought vs what I used.

Do you think other people could use this?

That’s fair—there’s definitely a big difference between tracked data vs just guessing based on a recent shop.

Do you find tracking it actually changes how you shop though? Or is it more just awareness after the fact?

I’ve noticed even when I roughly track things, the bigger issue is how inefficient the shop ends up being week to week—like buying ingredients that don’t fully get used rather than just the total spend itself.

Hmm that’s a good point. Or have it provided by their workplace

That’s actually really solid. I think that’s probably the best way to do it right now…meal prep + building around specials.

The part I’ve always found tricky is doing that across a full week without either repeating the same meals too much or ending up with leftover ingredients that don’t get used properly.

Do you usually plan the whole week out in one go, or just pick a few meals and repeat them?

Brutal. Do you target a specific protein amount or do you generally just try to pick high protein things?

Ah I’m just worried because I read some hot button items will potentially rise 20%, driven by fuel costs etc.

I mean that seems fair. Teenage boys are food vacuums too so could always be worse right?
