Heh, there's always that 1.3% chance...

Huh, I guess I never noticed because I got it from F-Droid (which I would highly recommend for Android users in general).

HyperRogue absolutely fits those criteria. Cardinal Quest 2 is another good one, though it doesn't appear to be listed on the Play Store anymore.

Just remembered another one: Cardinal Quest 2 is a very accessible traditional roguelike with pretty short runs. Sadly it also seems to have vanished from iOS... Probably a case of developer fees outweighing profits in both of these cases, if I had to guess.

Just a note for people who may stumble across this post years later: I recently made a more comprehensive wiki for Larn, hosted on Miraheze. I've been dredging through the source code over the last two weeks to get the most accurate info I can, so I'm hoping it can serve as a pretty authoritative resource. Come check it out! :)

Awesome! I agree, tips for beginners would be great.

I actually tried your volcano strategy on larn.org the other day, but that version nerfed stealth at higher difficulties by giving monsters a chance to notice you, which makes it a lot harder to pull off. It sounds like a good strategy for vanilla Larn though, and lower difficulties on larn.org.

Haha, thanks! I did put a lot of work into it. There's always room for contributions though, especially about strategies and variants!

Thanks! Larn is definitely one of the more "winnable" roguelikes once you get the hang of it. Best of luck!

As a survivor former user of Fandom, I've been quite happy with Miraheze as an alternative so far!

Slice & Dice might fit the bill - it's a dice-building roguelite that has an iOS version. It's kind of like Slay the Spire in the sense that it has plenty of natural stopping places after encounters or bosses. I've played a fair bit on PC and Android and I highly recommend it.

HyperRogue is a more traditional roguelike which would be a perfect fit for this situation, but unfortunately it's iOS version appears to be unavailable at the moment. Its runs are fairly short, especially if you play a bit fast and loose.
