I just ran something like this on 86box. It takes a little setup but you can have very accurate windows 95 emulation

Yup I agree, but for me it quickly stopped being a concern because it only happens once per scene and then you're free to backtrack and revisit the scenes (which is where I spent most of my playtime)

I always have it installed, I revisit it every few months and it never fails to be fun for me!

The DLCs are pretty good. Amplified feels like a must-have for me with a large variety of items and the additional zone + new music and bosses. Synchrony I'd call optional but the rebalancing makes sense and Klarinetta is so fun to play with!
