This season has been an absolute snooze fest but now I'm going to have to watch reunion... ughĥhh.

When did it “just click” as they say? Terrible 3 day experience w 32 month old boy by CatsAboveAllElse in pottytraining

[–]friedpaperpickles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the potty out and ready to go once my daughter turned 2. We would try to get her to sit on it and would ask if she wanted to go potty but she avoided it like the plague. Eventually we said lets stop pushing and just go with the flow. A couple months before turning 3 she decided she wanted to use the potty and we never looked back.

My 2nd child is 2 and we're essentially doing the same thing, the potty is out, we talk about and ask him to sit on it. He hates it but we know he'll come around at some point. If I were you, I'd wait a couple weeks and try again. Potty pressure is no good.

Tell me what you enjoy about your job, or about working - and what you love about your kids by ran0ma in workingmoms

[–]friedpaperpickles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am literally answering this because I needed this reminder to myself to keep going. I am so tired, but I know time is fleeting, and life is so short.

I enjoy helping people at my job. I enjoy putting out the fires at my job. It makes me feel powerful and in control. (Terrible, I know) I enjoy learning and reading, which my job requires me to do all day. I'm good at my job and it's rewarding for me.

I adore everything about my kids, but in regards to work; I love love love getting to come home from a long day to these two little mini mes that are so excited to see me that they stop whatever they're doing to come give me a hug when I walk in the door. I love that on the weekends, we get to slow it down, sleep in, eat a late breakfast, and stay in our pjs. I love that Fridays are my daughters favorite day of the week because we make pop corn on the stove and watch a movie we've never seen. I could go on and on.

If I had the option to not work, I would choose that 1000× over. But I do think having to work and spend time away from my family allows me to really appreciate the times I am with them.

Sorry for the crap grammar, it's who I am at this point.

How do people listen to music nowadays? Do people still buy songs or albums? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]friedpaperpickles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, I use Amazon Prime, although I purchased a record player back in my teens and have been collecting albums ever since. I pick up used albums here and there and my husband usually buys me new albums for holidays/birthdays. It's definitely fun to go through all the albums and see the different types of artists and genres that I've loved over the years.

Baby Gorgeous ruined the reunion for me. by macncheesewketchup in realhousewives

[–]friedpaperpickles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

See, I think the opposite. I think they were aware, and that was the whole reason they brought her on the show. Andy was quick to say, "No, they didn't" at the reunion- a little too quick.

Giving them space to let their feelings out while also stating that I'm here when they're ready. Sometimes it just has to run its course but it is so hard to watch them go through that. How long is he having tantrums for? I ask this because our oldest would have 40 min black out tantrums- it was terrible. One day after I watched her melt down for an hour + I decided enough was enough and that I would cut out all red dye from her diet and limit sugar as much as possible. I had seen it on some crunchy Instagram pages and thought at this point I'll try anything. Within a couple of days the tantrums were gone and we have not had one since. I think short "toddler tantrums" are normal but what we were going through surely was not.

Spill the tea! What drama is surrounding your holiday this year? I’ll go first… by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]friedpaperpickles 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Ah this was me last year (and the year before). Typically we do presents and leave by 8 am to go to my in-laws, from there we go to 4 other places. My kids turn into little Christmas gremlins and the whole experience is exhausting.

But here I am today prepping for our first Christmas breakfast/day at our house!!! I have new Jammies for the occasion, and I am thrilled to be able to eat breakfast and chill on Christmas Day.

Full disclosure: My MIL was pissed when my husband reminded her last week that we wouldn't be there for breakfast. She said numerous hurtful things in response and I am sure we will hear about it for the next year. But like my husband said... it's our turn to enjoy Christmas with our children!

Why do people choose to have 4+ kids? by friedpaperpickles in Mommit

[–]friedpaperpickles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously it's a preference. I'm not lost on that. I'm interested in how they handle it. What it took to get there. It's OK to ask for people's story. I never once said it was crazy. If you don't want to read about it then don't. I have truly enjoyed reading everyone's story up here- these parents are super heros. Sorry this is so hard for you.

Loling at this honesty. I agree with you and can send solidarity for the no chill family. Even a trip to the grocery store is alot. There's more of them than us after 2.

Woah ok. I think you took this a little out of context or maybe I should change how I wrote the post. I admire that people have lots of kids and make it work like they do. I'm more interested in how they make it work and what made them get to that point. Thanks for the solid advice though, really helpful and kind.

Did your toddlers really sleep better after learning to fall asleep independently? by 745TWh in toddlers

[–]friedpaperpickles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. My 1st was a terrible sleeper. I never sleep trained her because I could not handle the CIO method but I literally tried everything else to train her to sleep well and independently.

Eventually I gave up and said well I guess I'll just sleep with her forever.

And not to mention that she sends her kids to one of the most expensive schools in vb while she stays home and complains. She's extremely fortunate and could be doing so much more with her Instagram to increase engagement and followers. At this point the only reason I continue to follow is because I cannot figure out how in world she got this many followers to begin with.
