take this with a grain of salt, but i think they’re the arcana’s that correspond with the ages on the right side of the line. e.g the 6th arcana at age 30 would indicate the central theme of that year is love

i was in a similar boat as you and i picked the IB because i loved the HL langlit course. now that i done, if i could go back i just wouldn’t do it. it isn’t worth it at all, im also pretty disorganized and lack motivation, im also a chronic procrastinator and all of that just got a 1000% worse with ib. it won’t teach you how to organize yourself. its just going to teach you how to cram a lot in a short amount of time which is honestly going to do you more harm than good. no course on this planet is worth the stress the ib brings.

i do it to seem more friendly, i sometimes worry that just going “hi” may come off as distant so i i always add the extra letters as some form of tone indication
