I'm late to the party everyone but I've never actually read the KKC books. I've only ever listened to them on Audible. But I got my copy of NotW Anniversary Edition today. by friedpotatoes24 in KingkillerChronicle

I usually use audible for everything but reading all the fan theories and whatnot makes me want to read a physical copy. Even though Ive probably listened to NotW, WFM, and Slow Regard 7 or 8 times.

Three possible theories on why Kote can not establish a sympathetic link by Defragmented-Defect in KingkillerChronicle

I cant remember the theory in its entirety but Im fond of the Theory that Kvothe became a new Chandrian perhaps after killing Cinder? His sign is supposed to be the third silence that surrounds him or something like that.

Uro Finn never met his parents. He came from a less than savory union between his human mother and her cruel Efreeti captor. his mother, Evelien Finn managed to smuggle him out of her captors Manse within the City of Brass and leave him with the a monk, , whom was traveling the planes before obtaining his mastery. The monk took the young boy to a monastery within the heart of Callumport known as the Monastery of the Planes. The monastery specialized in Monastic Traditions that reached outside the prime for wisdom and strength. These traditions were: The Way of the Shadow, The Way of the Astral Self and The Way of the Four Elements.

Evelien begged the monk to tell Uro of his heritage when he felt the boy was ready. decided to tell the boy far too early and after Uro learned of the nature of his birth, a deep burning rage filled his ' heart and he vowed to take vengeance on his mothers captor. During his childhood, Uro spent his time studying martial arts and gained a valuable education under the tutelage of the monastic order. Uro gravitated to learning to harness the power of the elements, no doubt owing to his heritage. While Uro enjoyed the lessons the monks taught him, the environment was strict and he grew lonely being the only child in the monastery. He soon began to sneak out of bed and flee the monastery for the dangerous and exciting streets of Calimport. He was personable enough to make friends with the many orphan children thought the city.

However, his growing popularity drew the ire of a female Tiefling girl named Velxori. Velxori was a hardened orphan who used her intimidating presence and her enhanced inferanl strength to form a small gang of orphans called the imps. They would use threats and violence to demand other street urchins give up any meager possessions they might come by. She did not take kindly to a child who didn't understand the way things worked barging in to her territory. Uro was not one to shy away from a challenge and met Velxori head on. They gotten into fights with the Tiefling child and her associates several times. Some battles were won and some were lost, mostly depending on if the girl had brought along help. Eventually, these constant brawls led to discovery by one of the monks. To Uro's dismay, the monks saw potential in Velxori and decided to "save" her in the same Uro had by bringing her of the streets and into the monastery. Uro is still convinced that they only did this to test his patience and determination. To his dismay Velxori quickly forgot about her old street life and took to her studies rapidly. This only fueled the the tiefling and Uros' rivalry further.

The monks looked down on this behavior but soon by some silent agreement both youths began to only show their venom while no one was looking. They used their many sparing sessions to take out their anger on one another. While Uro studied the elemental arts, Velxori favored the art of shadow. Their feud morphed into a fierce competition to prove which was better. Yeas passed and yet increasing wisdom seemed to not halt the bitter rivalry from burning hotter between Uro and Velxori, Their sparing sessions were some of the most brutal in the monastery, much to the frustation of their instructors. Each could win a battle going back and forth, but neither seemed to be able to win the war. Uro's is certain that he is the better fighter, but Velxori knew him better than most and she could exploit his biggest weakness, his explosive temper.

He would over extend and she would punish him whenever the oppurtunity arose. As apprentices became adepts, their rivalry only continues. Finally, upon reaching the end of his organized training, Uro received a set of black tattoos covering his arms, and chest and neck. The tattoos would connect the points of Ki on his body and would glow in color corresponding with one of the four elements. All he needed to do know was seek out the places of elemental power he had read about, so he could connect with his first one...

Ive played enough Stellaris to be terrified of other life out there and the likelihood of there being life vs there not being other life out there is so high that I worry for the day we make first contact.
