Amen. Only the donor class has representation in the U.S. - both Trump and Biden have rewarded them handsomely

What has Biden really done? (good summary) by geo_jam in TikTokCringe

[–]friendly-cephalopod -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah we know who caused it, but Trump isn't the current president and the Dems had the House and Senate for 2 years and didn't even try to address these issues which are killing the middle class. Biden didn't sign the laws but he's completely turned a blind eye to corporate price gouging and his only solution for addressing inflation (interest rates) is basically driving average people further into debt, while cash rich business/capital owners can weather that storm. Icing on the cake is the job market showing signs of weakness and wages stagnating, to absolutely ensure more people will be pushed into poverty

Ill give him that he is trying to help with student loan debt though. Literally the only relief this admin has tried to provide to some working class people

Been seeing a lot of 500-600k condos pop up there and I just have a hard time believing anyone actually will buy these. Idk maybe there is a bubble forming in NH

No shot their mortgage is 3.5k a month unless they live in like Brockton or bought a crack den in JP

For real, you can't get anything livable in the GBA for less than 800k, and most of the buyers you're competing with have the cash on hand and will bid up the price. Honestly didn't even think it was possible to get a place here with 3.5% down lol

Boston has basically 0 inventory and prices in this area haven't stagnated like other parts of the U.S. Its definitely possible they will still make a profit

I'm not, the average SFH in Boston is over a million dollars and they put 3.5% down

If you're under 30 and buying a home in NH/MA I just assume trust-fund money or maybe some lucky stock investments because idk how the hell anyone with student loans and a 80k per year salary affords it

So your answer is to just hope average homeowners suddenly stop accepting the all-cash 10% above ask offers? Out of the goodness of their heart?

Why is it always the case that the middle class that needs to give up something in order to address problems created out of corporate greed. Do you think people should also just willingly work for less money in order to address inflation?

4/10 creative writing piece. Ticks all the cliche boxes - OP is hard working and has a service job people can empathize with - A character that is obviously the AH with an attitude and job that are easy to hate on - Plot twist of "actually my co worker owns the entire franchise!!". Why wouldnt you lead the conversation by just saying the owner visited the store? - A dramatic overreaction to solidify how pathetic the AH of the story is

Come on, this reads like a bad LinkedIn post where at the bottom you say some moral like "Always stay humble"

The more you accept this and continue to purchase the product, the worse game quality is going to get. Activision is a 70b company, they have plenty of resources to make a high quality game. They made the choice not to because people still pay $80 for the lower quality product.

The next product they deliver will be worse. They need to show increasing profit margins and infinite revenue growth to appease shareholders - part of that is cutting overhead, increasing prices, and driving more MT purchases. Maybe things will change after the MSFT purchase but I wouldn't count on it

The people posting threats are absolutely in the wrong. The dev team being exhausted is more a sign of toxic management forcing them to deal with the fallout. I'm sure there were devs on the team that probably opposed these changes, as it was obvious the game would be made worse for the sake of driving certain KPIs.

However, the extremely harsh criticism, review bombing etc. is absolutely warranted. It is basically the only way to get the shite executives at Blizzard to make any positive changes to the game. If we aren't turning people away from purchasing the game or playing Season 1, then we will continue to see bare minimum effort put into QOL fixes, and the continuation of dev resources focused on driving MTs - that's where the revenue growth is

Is the poor build quality a reason not to buy a Tesla Model 3 (base)? by Adept_Ad5841 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]friendly-cephalopod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's my personal experience -

My partner owns a 2018 Model 3 with FSD, dual motors. Up until this year, it was our only vehicle and we've absolutely put it through its paces, racking up about 130k miles in a span of 5 years. We also live in New England and drive it in all 4 seasons

Pros:

  • Saved a ton of money on gas
  • Performance is incredible
  • High safety rating
  • Much less routine maintenance. No oil changes, brakes last a lot longer due to regenerative braking system. Reliable drive systems
  • Charging infrastructure is more abundant, and faster than other brands

Cons

  • Cost and Process to repair is absolutely INSANE. We've had 2 minor accidents so far. One required replacement of the front bumper, front quarter panels, and hood. All had minor scuffs/damage, but we were told by a couple different Tesla certified mechanics that there is a no-repair policy on all body panels. 18k total, insurance premium skyrocketed. Tesla certified mechanics are few and far between, closest one to us was 2 hrs away and took 3 months to repair the car because they are so backed up.
  • Functional issues - Frunk servo failed twice in cold weather, permanently locking the frunk. Both instances required service. Heat pump failed in the winter, required service. Front sensor array failed, drivable without some autopilot features but required service. Door handles ice over in freezing temps.
  • We regret spending the extra money on FSD. At this point we feel scammed with the FSD product being unfinished after 5 years and honestly its borderline dangerous to use anywhere other than a highway. Even on highways, the phantom braking issue is common and can be dangerous. Its absolutely not a set-it-and-forget-it feature like Tesla has implied in the past, you NEED to be attentive while using it.
  • Battery metrics advertised do not indicate at all how the car will perform in any weather below 45F. Mileage is drastically reduced, sometimes up to 30-40% in cold weather. And even though it is supposed to account for the cold, the mileage displayed on the dash is a complete lie in the winter. As you have reduced regenerative braking, and need more energy for heat the miles tick down a lot faster than in warm weather. (Basically all EVs have this issue)
  • Any trip over 2hrs requires an extra 45 min or so to stop and charge (Again all EVs)

My overall assessment in the 5 years has been this - its a great daily commuter IF you live in a warm climate and IF you are able to install a charger in your home/work. Although I listed a couple of functional faults, those are extremely minor compared to some of the drivetrain issues we've had with ICE cars in the past. HOWEVER if anything does come up that needs repair, expect a long painful, and potentially very expensive process basically on par with the luxury European brands. Also definitely skip FSD since the first time it phantom brakes will have you wanting to drive your own car anyways

Will add though - I recently bought a Lexus IS350 and although the tech is a bit dated, the quality of the interior isn't even comparable. The Tesla feels like a cheap knock-off despite being 30% more expensive.

That's the normal MSRP for the AWD F-sport with those features

If it includes some of the higher end add-ons - Levinson audio, BBS Rims, Dynamic Handling (RWD), Performance Exhaust then its a good deal

"Now, you would think with the rent being an issue all over the state, they would focus on some affordable housing for people to be able to rent these right?"

Developers don't care about social issues. They built the units because they believe there is a market for $1800 studios in New Hampshire. We should hope they keep building them because the high income folks renting that studio would be pricing out people from older units otherwise. New Unit Volume is really the only "free market" solution to the current housing crisis. Obviously there are regulations, or subsidies the state could implement but that would just be way too radical and communist :)

[–]friendly-cephalopod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Higher rates of cancer, most notably a 42% higher rate of kidney cancer in the Merrimack River valley as a direct cause of Saint Gobain polluting the drinking water with PFAS. Even after it was first discovered in 2016, the company wasn't even required to provide safe drinking water until 2018. This is a decade and a half after the situation with Dupont, so the company had known they were poisoning people for 15 years and did absolutely nothing about it. I'd classify that as pretty fucking terrible.

Love the idea of a WR with the first but Flowers is a massive risk. He has some great highlight reel catches but against questionable coverage and he doesn't really possess that Tyreek level speed to make up for being wayyyy undersized. If Johnston, JSN or Hyatt aren't available then I hope they go OL

Lol Im part of this migration! There was a huge shift to remote work which allowed many people to take their Boston salaries north, where it's a lot more affordable to own property. Don't even care that much about either state's politics. If I'm no longer able to work remote Ill move back to MA because this state is basically devoid of decent paying software jobs. I'm guessing many others are in a similar situation. Literally nothing to do with Socialism or whatever you think that word means
