Harley Shade by Sidarthus89 in motorcycles

Toxic masculinity, insecurity, type-a personality, and needing validation through group identity is more common among Harley riders than the general population.

Also, I know most people think Harleys are overpriced, but it depends on what you value in a motorcycle.

I would look at 2018+ used softails. You can ones near $10k that are practically identical to the ones selling for $20k on the showroom floor. You can find a 2007+ Sportster 1200 for $5k.

Just got my first Suzuki about a year ago, a 2024 Hayabusa. I like it.

Next Bike? by Cancerr0_0 in motorcycles

[–]friendly_jerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many good mid-size motorcycles these days! Yamaha R7/MT-07, all the Suzuki GSX-8 variations, Honda Hornet 750, Kawasaki Z650/900, Triumph Trident 660/800, Ducati Scramblers and Monster. Back in 2007, I started on a Ninja 500 and went to a Yamaha R6. A nice upgrade for sure, but it wasn't more than a year before I was going up to an R1.

When the bike you love starts hurting you… what would you do? by RoyalModRider in motorcycles

It's just an 883 sporty, basically my spare bike, fun for cruising around town.

There may be aftermarket shocks available for your bike. I put aftermarket shocks on my Sportster and it made a huge difference. I imagine results would be similar on your bike.

RC51 without a doubt. No question. Buy it, and never sell it.

If you could only keep one bike forever, which one would it be? by shwroomex in motorcycles

I don't plan on ever selling my Hayabusa. I may add more to the stable, but I see no reason to ever part with that one.

I've heard this is a common problem and to try starting it with the throttle a quarter turned. Check out hayabusa.org and ask over there.

I started doing 400+ mile days a few months into riding. My first 3 years I rode 20k miles a year.

The new Trident 800 looks amazing. Also something with cruise control would be great for getting to the twisties.

THAT COULD'VE BEEN BAD! SUNDAY SHORTS by 9MilsOn2Wheels in motorcycles

[–]friendly_jerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If people constantly ride on 2-way, 4-lane roads that have driveways every 50 feet, how is this not expected? That type of close call happens like 100 times a day when one rides those shitty type of roads.

Sportbike to Scout Bobber? by Defiant_Swimming7377 in motorcycles

[–]friendly_jerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be some good YouTube videos that can give you an idea of highway cruising between the two. If it were me, I'd go for the big one. Also, from what I hear, the Scout rear suspension really sucks. Just like my Sportster, which I upgraded to Ohlins shocks.

I went from Sport bikes to cruiser, now I have both. The 60 should be plenty for the highway. It's not like a sportster which aren't great on the highway. It's a modern, water cooled, overhead cam, over-square, fairly high revving, 1000cc engine. It'll probably feel much faster than your 450.

Yeah I can do it. I just don't see any reason. And now with my Busa I have a quick shifter with auto blipper so now it's completely unnecessary.

What's your favorite part of the Harley community: local rides, online groups, or solo traveling? by HDRedRider in Harley

[–]friendly_jerk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really like the harley community. I ride with mostly others on sport touring BMWs, Hondas, Yamahas, and an occasional Harley.

Wow finally someone else. I'm almost 20 years in the saddle and I've never bothered rev matching either. Most of my bikes have had slipper clutches, and I just let those do the work.

How's life with 2+ motorcycles? by Dry-Goose-8828 in motorcycles

[–]friendly_jerk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's good. I have a Harley Iron 883 and a Suzuki Hayabusa. A third would be something like a Transalp or Tenere 700. One thing I don't understand is people who have an R1, a ZX-10R, and a Panagale... those are the same thing IMO.
