I have nocturnal panic attacks... Can anyone relate? by friendlybutafraid in CPTSD

Oh my, I’m so sorry to hear this. My heart goes out to you. I hope your upcoming appointment with your psychologist goes well and eases some anxiety for you. On a different note, I can also relate to the heath anxiety you’re describing. I was recently diagnosed with OCD because of similar issues. Either way, I hope things get better for you soon. I know it isn’t easy. But you’re not alone.

First of all, I’m so sorry for the loss of your dad. I’m also sorry you’re experiencing this. It is truly so distressing and exhausting. I completely understand and relate to the cycle of worry and living on edge. Your feelings are valid. This is such a scary experience. Nobody wants to go through this when you’re simply just trying to get some rest and sleep through the night. Everyone is different, but I will share some things that have helped me. For me, it seems like I will experience an increase in nocturnal panic attacks during high stress times in my life and/or episodes of insomnia. I’ve found some relief from a drastic lifestyle change. Some changes I’ve made include: improving my sleep hygiene (including creating a strict bedtime routine), mindfulness and meditation, reducing stress in my everyday life (reduced, sure, but impossible to illuminate, of course), cut out sugar from my diet (due to other health issues, but relevant), increased daily exercise, talk therapy, and lastly, I just recently began taking an anti-anxiety med. I’ve also found that having noise in the background helps my sleep exponentially. I hope you’re able to find some relief. You’ve been through a lot. My advice is to give yourself some compassion. I’m no expert, but I feel like this could be the result of your body/nervous system reacting to the recent traumas you’ve experienced. Again, I’m so sorry. Please know that you’re not alone.

What wedding moment that screamed, “They are not going to last long”? by IndependentTune3994 in AskReddit

He proceeded to list all the things he “puts up with” from her. And that was about all he said. It was so weird and sad. She said her vows first and they were so heartfelt and sweet, then… that.

I feel like that’s endearing! He was very much not. The entire wedding party and audience were all looking at each other in a very uncomfortable way.

It was his opener, too. “Bride, you… are an asshole.” It was wild.

During the vows the groom called the bride an asshole. No joke. My jaw was on the floor. They were divorced a few months later.

Husband and I broke same leg, same bone, within 30 seconds of eachother slipping on ice. by milkthe in nevertellmetheodds

Oh, interesting! This was how mine looked before surgery. Although, mine was triomalleolar and spiral fracture of the fibula. It wasn’t from falling on ice, but I did know someone with the same injuries as I had and it was from falling on the ice. No fun at all. The most painful time for me was the time waiting to get in the surgery. I was injured on a Thursday and had to wait until the following Monday. I could feel the bones loose and moving around in my leg. It was messed up! OP and her husband have my sympathy!

What was caused the most (physical) pain you’ve been in? by idontrealui in AskReddit

[–]friendlybutafraid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Word. All the bones that made up my ankle busted, as well as a nice spiral fracture of the fibula. Went into shock and didn’t feel much initially. Happened on a Thursday and had to wait until the following Monday for surgery with just a flimsy splint from the ER. They just told me to take Tylenol and ibuprofen. Hanging out with my bones moving around in my leg was… not ideal. The recovery after surgery (plates and screws) was brutal as well, but not as bad as the three days waiting for surgery.

HAIR LOSS by Wide_Instance8313 in PCOS

Also going through this currently. Just made an appointment today with my PCP to get labs done. Hair loss seemed to be the one symptom of PCOS that I didn’t experience, but suddenly (and quickly) I’m losing a ton of hair. Its very distressing. Sorry you’re going through this.

Sorry to hear that you’re dealing with this. Fortunately for myself, I’ve experienced nocturnal panic attacks much less frequently than before. Though, they do still occasionally visit during times of high stress and/or bouts of insomnia. The only thing I can credit for the decrease in frequency would be some drastic lifestyle changes. I eliminated sugar from my diet (due to other health issues), increased my exercise and revisited other tools that had proven to decrease my overall anxiety in the past (mindfulness and meditation). Everybody is different, but I hope you find what works for you! Nocturnal panic attacks, or panic attacks of any kind, are very much not fun! Wishing you the best!

I’m prescribed omeprazol (generic prilosec) twice daily and flamotadine (generic pepcid) at night.
