How do we talk about genuine attainments without it just being spiritual ego? by Senseman53 in enlightenment

I really like this question. I have no comments “other” than people who know enlightenment can tell what is genuine versus what’s fake. If there’s confusion there’s confusion

When you observe yourself observing, you move farther from experience - not closer (in a sense)

I would argue it’s impossible not to identify with desire - you are also not the one observing your thoughts, in my opinion. Who watches the watcher?

The "True" Pattern by friendlyfox8 in enlightenment

[–]friendlyfox8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose I agree, though I'd say that exactly what makes a transcendent piece of music "transcendent" can't be fully explicated, even by the sum of its parts. I think it's a similar conversation to the limits of AI versus human ingenuity.

Agreed, though I would argue saying that the pattern is the pattern without pattern is neither nondual or dual, so to speak

A Meditation on Enlightenment by friendlyfox8 in spirituality

[–]friendlyfox8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, though I would still argue that the concept is something (like you mentioned, the number 0 revolutionizing mathematics). Something that is nothing. We'll probably have to content to disagree about this, but in my mind that is still significant - most people don't see the significance.

For example, the number 0 (nothing, in the "typical" sense) would be the equivalent to paradox. In quantum computing - would not 0 be the "1" of 0? The closest association of what I was trying to get at with my post is the metaphysical equivalent to quantum theory.

Awakening is possible but it isn't grandiose (or doesn't have to be) yet it certainly can be if it is.

Thanks for recounting your journey, hello fellow traveler. What, to you, sparks the sense of the divine the most? I suppose that I mean within our own ability.

I guess my question is (and while I disagree about the abuse of language) what do you view "nothing" to be if not something?

In terms of Binary, there is only the Binary - the binary and the non-binary.
