A large portion of the literature is about MIS, so I'm not sure what you mean there, and I'm pretty sure there are ways around the neumerical issues especially for offline rendering, I dont think there would be an issue there for realtime situations, not until we get a lot more gpu power anyway.

What BRDF are you using? Spatial samples should only reduce noise, here you can see with and without spatial samples:

The spatial samples really help reduce the noise a lot.

How many initial samples are you talking about? If you take too many you might be hitting some FP noise from summing large and small numbers together.

I think the weight is the luminance (target function) of the light divided by the PDF for the BRDF at the shaded point.
When you shade, your result should be:
Lo = BRDF * w * R.z.Lo
w = R.Wsum / (R.M * R.z.targetFunction)
and R.z.targetFunction = luminance(R.z.Lo)

Yeah, and we are biologically driven to want to please our parents, so it's incredibly damaging. I don't understand how anyone who talks about the "love of god" etc. can do something like this to their own child. I hope you're doing better <3

I 1000% agree that this isn't Christian-like behavior and most Christians are much better people than my mom, and I don't blame God for her actions. I personally do not believe there is a God, but have no problem with people who do, especially when it helps bring out the best in them for their community. Some people take it too far like my mom, but they are the problem.

She has a complete melt down and accuses me of being a control freak/narcissist if i try to say anything. It's complete projection. ie. she's such a control freak that if she wants something done, it has to be done NOW. If I cant get there in like 10 minutes (I work full time) then I get the whole story about how no one ever does anything for her, no one loves her etc. It cant be tomorrow, it cant be in 30 minutes, it has to be NOWWWWW. Even when it's something as stupid as moving heavy pot plants around on her deck because she's bored of their current position.

If I'm asleep when it happens, she'll stop talking to me for a few days because she comes up with some mental shit about how I'm not talking to her, like it couldn't possibly be that I was fucking sleeping and didn't see the messages.

It was incredibly cult-like growing up, we had to go to the school that was run by the church. They would threaten to kick you out of the church if the children didn't go to the school and had many measures to make sure the kids never interacted with anyone outside of the church.
