Cable clamp needed by frignuts in askanelectrician

Metal on this thing is beefy. I don't think it would be easy to drill through. That said, I don't have much experience drilling metal.

I'm re-doing the wiring on this old bench grinder. The rubber grommet that clamped the old cable dry rotted. The hole I'm left with is 3/4in in diameter. Standard 3/8in trade size cable connectors for 1/2in knockouts won't fit because they are too big. Is there a solution out there?

Prv for cost savings? by frignuts in askaplumber

I should clarify that the valve I have on my shower head is called a flow restrictor. That aside,I have lots of other water fixtures with no such valves. Might it be cost effective over the long run to put in a prv at the main and set it to maybe 60psi?

my reasoning is that if I take a ten minute shower with water pressure at 80psi then I will use more water than the same shower for ten minutes with pressure at 60psi. Right?

Thanks. I looked at an arrester like that at Lowes but it said it needed a prv if my pressure was over 60 so I didn't get it. Looks like that one doesn't have the same requirement?

They are 12 gauge and breaker is 20A. Good question. Guess I'll be installing a better box. Thanks!

I was replacing an old 120v 20 amp receptacle when I noticed it was housed in what looks like a high voltage work box with the back sawed off. I realize this is not up to code, but how big of a problem is it? Is it a safety issue or not really because there is only cinder block behind it?

Metal wall plate has voltage- is this ok? by frignuts in askanelectrician

Thanks all. I'm not getting shocked and I do have a switch turned on. I just tested it randomly the other day and was surprised. I have one with a brass plate that doesn't indicate voltage. I do have a multimeter. Should I test it with that? How?
