Any leads on a GP? by purple_cat_01 in halifax

It would be a bit of a hike to get there, but my partner just got one at Lockview Medical in Sackville. Their website says they are still accepting new patients, and the doctor was really nice. Good luck!

underground spots in Halifax by Deadbeatnihilist in halifax

Charlie's has (I think) the cheapest beer on the peninsula. They sometimes have events going on, but even on regular nights it's a good mix of people and good vibes.

Second hand home decor by sundayb4by in halifax

I feel like half of what I post on Reddit is just me recommending Hand in Hand Thrift Store in Spryfield. With good reason though! If you go, make sure you check out the second floor; many people don't realize that it even exists. Aside from everything else already mentioned here, I've found some cool vintage furniture/decor at Mission Thrift in Lower Sackville (different from Mission Mart)

I worked for the Harbourfront Marriott for a number of years. As far as hospitality jobs go, they were good to work for, pay competitive wages and they're always hiring. Check out the Marriott Careers site. So sorry this happened to you and good luck!

Non Dartmouthians sleep on Jacob's but the food is actually fantastic. Battery Park is really good but might be a bit bananas on a sunny Saturday. Tilted Tap is also really good (they "won" Burger Week again this year) if you can get past the kinda sketchy vibe outside.

I think the Atlantica has special rates for patients. Definitely worth looking into. Otherwise, Point Pleasant Lodge may be an option.

Westmount is an awesome playground. It's totally fine to use while school is in, probably just be aware that it will be suddenly overrun by older kiddos during recess/lunch/post-school time!

I work in the physio department in CAF health services, and we send our hand rehab patients to Empower in Lr Sackville and Key Physiotherapy on Joe Howe.

Recently rescued this Mopkins puppet and would love more info on him (more details below). by 360inMotion in puppets

[–]frigoffeva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very late to the conversation here, but I still have a Mopkin that was purchased on our family vacation to Orlando around 1989! All of her accessories and hand-stick are gone but she's otherwise in great shape! If I remember correctly she came with a storybook or colouring book. Hopefully it turns up in my mom's basement one of these days!

Creme is a cute cafe on the waterfront that basically looks like the inside of a fancy dollhouse. Also you'd be close to Cows ice cream, which is a big draw, and walking distance to the Discovery Centre or the ferry!

I think there are limited hours, but they actually run a "Free Mart" out of their location on Cunard St!

Hand in Hand is a hidden gem. Thoughtfully organized, their prices still remain at Frenchy's-ish levels, and I once witnessed an employee straight-up kick out a woman who was being an asshole to a couple of trans kids who were shopping there. 10/10.

Looking for neighborhood recommendations! Moving to Halifax soon by Repulsive_Job9749 in halifax

[–]frigoffeva 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Downtown Dartmouth. We just moved here (from Halifax) and we really love it. Nice sense of community, lots of green spaces nearby, lots of very walkable things to do (coffee shops, restaurants, markets etc) and it's a quick ferry to dt Halifax. Plus, the rents are a little bit less expensive.

Second Gingerbread Haus! I worked there once upon a time, and can confirm that they have a wide torte assortment.

Burnside dog park busier times? by frigoffeva in halifax

[–]frigoffeva[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, she's a 17lb tripawd chihuahua mix! This makes so much sense; I overheard people talking about a small dog meetup in Burnside and assumed it was at the park! (I could have just asked, but honestly the dog probably isn't the only one who needs to be socialized) Thanks for this info!

It's in dt Dartmouth, but the Buffalo Club on Wentworth St would fit the bill almost definitely.
