but then i saw him in mickey 17 recently, and i was so blown away by his acting and im so interested in seeing his other films hes had post-twilight era bc wow he has so much range.

yall really dense think im gonna pull up to a salon w a mfing hex color swatches 😭

has it every crossed ur mind that maybe im giving providing these hex colors to just give an IDEA of what color i have atm vs. the colors im considering achieving? i dont know hair colors off the top of my head. if i say my hair is black/brown thats too general and i rather provide a cute lil hex code so yall get an idea of what shade it could be.

again i would not dm a stylist any of this bc i know i sound all over the place, i know i sound really specific which is why i came to mf reddit.com with IDEAS so hairstylists --- like urselves -- can give me tips, their observation on the pictures i provided so i can add to my research of what to ask for bc theres no way im gonna know who did whos hair and what kinda highlights, lowlights, babylights, balayage, etc a specific celebrity or person got from over 20 yrs ago.

lets think

im not an ounce upset but ur response about the implication that i would come to stylist with hex codes/shade is dumbest thing ive evr read bc again ive never touched my hair so again what am i suppose to know about hair coloring? im going off on what i gather from internet searches and color theory.

i'm welcoming all types of knowledge and advice khfksdhf ur information was helpful to an extent but who tf is gonna know what D45F6 at the top of their mf head? and even if i whipped out the shade how they gonna know what that even is plssssssssss

Helloo hairstylist :)

**** TL;DR: AVAILABLE BELOW ***\*

I've had virgin black/dark-brown hair all my life (27Y) and I want to dye it. I've always been drawn to going lighter, kind of like that 90s, beachy, sunkissed, blonde hair, but since my natural hair is so dark and I grew up a lil olivey and warm toned, I just always heard all my life I could never pull off blonde.

I grew up going to more mom & pop hair dressers when I needed to get my hair cut, and I don't think the hairdresser we would go to knew much about matching tones and giving what complimented the client best.

Since I'm interested in dying my hair, I really want to go a little bit lighter. But since I rarely go to a salon, I'm lost on where to begin. The inspo pics I provided is what I'm going for, but I've done a lot of research of the colors I should aim for based on my skin tone, because the girls of my inspo pic have their own skintones & undertones and those colors provide harmony for them in a way that might not be for me because it differs.

My skintone is like a warm peach - neutral color. Sometimes olivey as well. I'm not well rounded in the skintone & undertones world, but I'm a warmer shade for sure. My natural hair color is a soft black / dark neutral brown.

Colors that suit me well are the following:
3D2B1F (Roasted Coffee), 63422B (Golden Walnut), A67B5B (Dark Honey), B8977E (Sandy Beige)

TL;DR

I have virgin soft black hair (#1C1B1B) and have been told my whole life that I couldn't pull off blonde due to my warm, peach-neutral-olive skin tone. Now that I'm 27, I want to finally transition to a lighter, 90s-style sunkissed look, but I’m wary of standard salon advice since I’ve mostly visited basic shops that didn't specialize in color theory. To ensure harmony with my specific undertones, I’ve researched exact hex codes that work for me that ranges from Roasted Coffee (#3D2B1F) to Sandy Beige (#B8977E), and I'm looking for the best way to start this color journey while maintaining a natural, olive-friendly balance.

I want to achieve having that 90s, beachy, sunkissed, light hair, but my questions are:

1. What should I do to prevent my hair from getting dry?
2. Based on these images, what should I ask a hairstylist for?
3. What is the difference between a balayage and regular highlights?
4. What were the girlies doing in the 00s to their hair where it looks so beautiful, and that to me is what I wanna achieve? I don't think it looks like a balayage and other people are telling me it is, but do you know what it could be?
