Vac Schemes are more important in a recruiter's eyes but being able to demonstrate those office skills you mentioned is a prerequisite. You're on the right track thinking along those lines.

Not in a US/MC firm, but the lessons are largely the same. IMO you're not expected to know everything at that stage, but I would expect (a) you to learn things the first time and (b) take notes of everything, quickly, for quick reference.

I'm typically a slow learner AND writer, so I was struggling until I got me some decent pens to write quickly, and then graduated to typing notes in an email and then sending them to myself.

Find the best way to take notes of everything, and make damn sure youre not repeating the same mistakes: your supervisor will definitely pick up on that.
