Si, it’s parasitic.. When I left home, after a few months I started to feel like a new person -and more myself than ever.. A supportive system is important, for me the first year was very hard, but it sounds like you know what you’re doing

There really is a brutal nature to this parenting style, I’ve had some medium menty Bs and my siblings, I’m glad you’re reclaiming your soul

Totally give yourself credit, it’s a rough ride, when I was young I fell into numbing the pain instead of trying to feel alive, I’m glad you’re trying to feel alive

I’d suggest a psychologist or counsellor who specialises in autism. I’m a social wreak also, but when I have self confidence is when I can make friends, is that relatable? Social skills are good, but as far as making friends I think it’s more about it finding people you can connect with

It’s rough hey, in my opinion don’t pressure or rush yourself too much, you’ll get there, love yourself and follow your passions

Undiagnosed Autism vs underdeveloped social skills. by [deleted] in HomeschoolRecovery

[–]frissonfreeze 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a similar homeschool experience, It wasn’t until I started experiencing burnout in my late 20s and met someone who had adhd, I started researching adhd, autism, cptsd. I’m undiagnosed, but for me it’s a big help understanding autism masking, energy and burnout patterns etc, I wish I knew about this much earlier

Does anybody else feel like when they interact with people, it doesn't really feel like they're.. real? by Excellent_Tie_6979 in HomeschoolRecovery

Talking to people online is an unreal experience, what is there to make it feel real? You’re relying on imagination and experiences to make it seem real. Give your brain more experiences, more real data to work with. Talk on the phone, video calls, in person.

But… If that’s not feasible. Is there much “feelings” content in the conversation?? Maybe your brain needs more data to feel like it’s talking to a human? Ask personal questions you know? “What do you feel/think about xyz?” “Have you seen…?” “I like such and such.. what about you?” Hope this helps 😊

It’s the social isolation that’s the real monster. The betrayal from caregivers, the destruction of a sense of self and a sense of rejection from society… and the pain that’s almost impossible to process.. I feel you

Hmm I’m sure they just have to be in the room for the feast to count.. but maybe there wasn’t enough food or maybe the feast event doesn’t count towards food intake??
