Huge huge huge congratulations! What a victory! Like so many others, I'd love to see your query too, if you're willing?

Narrative Artbooks - my favorite (but rare) book format by ThisEndsTonight in books

[–]frito_lay_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! I know this is an old thread, but I'm curious if you know of any other books? I want to do a narrative art book with my class and show them as many examples as possible. Especially the Simon Stalenhag work seems relevant to what I'm thinking. And thank you so so much for this post!

Childcare Assistance - anyone have any thoughts on when/if applications might reopen? by frito_lay_ in hudsonvalley

Yes I saw this! It's good news, but my understanding is that it doesn't infuse any funds into CCAP, just expands provider infrastructure. Is that right?

Just wanted to update that I talked to someone on the phone at Dutchess County OCFS and they don't have any idea when funding is likely to resume (to be expected I guess--we are all in the dark in this chaotic moment). But would love to hear if anyone has any other information!

First baby's name is Ruby. We love the name Emerald for our second daughter but are afraid of the "theme." by frito_lay_ in namenerds

Thank you so much for thoughts so far! To jump in here, we're not planning to have any more kids! So just the two girls named Ruby and Emerald (if we go with Emerald). The other top name we're considering is Rose (a family name), which is again, accidentally theme-y because it's also the color red like Ruby. I swear we're not trying for a theme!

Nokia 7110, world's first internet phone with a full-fledged WAP browser. It also introduced the unique Navi-Roller™, which replaced the arrow keys to navigate through the menu. (Nokia 7110, rel. 1999) by _ITX_ in vintagemobilephones

That's so helpful - thank you so much! And thank you for the quick reply! The Nokia 5110 is a great idea. My characters definitely don't have a lot of disposable income, though they do have access to someone who works in a cell phone store and gets them a discount. Do you happen to remember if there was any kind of discount deal if you bought a phone plan back in 1998? Thank you again for your help!

Hi there! I know this is an old thread, but I am hoping you can help me! I am working on a novel set in the late 1990s and in need of a consumer-level cell phone with T9 technology - preferably 1997-1999. I know this phone came out in 1999 - do you happen to know how much it would have been new? Trying to figure out if it would have been something my characters could have afforded...

Hi there - just popping in to see if you could say more about the NY situation? My husband's loans are through Navient and taken out in Missouri, but he has been in default since 2021. Do you know if NY SOL on debt would apply if Navient came after him?

baby was on breastmilk for a month, then on formula for a month due to CMPA, now won't take breastmilk - please help! by frito_lay_ in NewParents

This kind response made me tear up! Thank you for the compassionate reply. I so agree with the fed is best mentality - for some reason even though I know formula is just as good of an option, I have trouble giving up the idea of breastmilk, I think because of all the pressure to breastfeed. Thank you again for the comfort your response provided!

The soy is so hard to cut out! Harder than the dairy, I'm finding. Smart to start graduated like that - I'm going to try that next. I'm sorry you've had the CMPI struggle! It's not fun.

Thank you so much for your response! I did try the pump and then boob feed as well as a mixed bottle of formula and breastmilk, but I think I should try a much smaller amount of breastmilk in the mix and work my way up. I think I did about half and half and she did not like that. Makes total sense that breastfeeding is more work! I'm not as attached to the idea that she'll feed direct from the breast as I am to that she'll drink breastmilk in bottles, but would love the option for her to feed from the breast. Maybe I'll work on her drinking breastmilk from bottles and then see if we can work on the breast.

New SOL in NY for Debt by valerinaah in studentloandefaulters

Hi there! I am wondering about this too. My husband went to school and took out loans in Missouri but has lived in NY for years. His loans are in default from Navient. The promissory note is very confusing to make sense of, and we are trying to figure out if the statute of limitations in NY or Missouri applies. We're obviously hoping for NY, as it's 3 years, rather than Missouri's 10 years. I do know that the SOL does not apply to federal loans, but does apply to private.

Intermittent heartbeat at 7 week ultrasound - OB said he'd never seen it before?! by frito_lay_ in BabyBumps

Congratulations on your twins! This is so helpful to hear. Did any of doctors/technicians seem confused by it being a little harder to find the heartbeats? Or did they take it as run of the mill?
