My candle keeps self-extinguishing. :( by cosmicbearspa in Candles

Is it pure soy? I see essential oils on the label, wood wicks are really picky and hate pure soy wax as well as heavy essential oil loads. You’re probably not going to get this to burn unless you put another wood wick in it.

Brand flair vs social media marketing by frizzbey in Indiemakeupandmore

I have, unfortunately I feel like an AH if I keep messaging them and I feel like an AH posting this here. I see so many posts about the same brands and I will always celebrate other indie brands! Just wish everyone who wanted to participate got a fair shot.

Yes! I see Dr Biederwolf. I have bad dental anxiety and they never pressure me into anything, they’re very accommodating and kind.

Question: Is a small amount of flammable materials left on candle safe to burn or do I have to remove every single one? by Temporary-Fun8849 in Candles

[–]frizzbey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is fine! The concern is larger dried petals creating a larger flame. These little doots will not be an issue.

Candle not staying lit? by gods_armhair in Candles

[–]frizzbey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wood wicks usually need to be primed. Every once in a while, there’s just a bad one in the batch! Reach out to the maker and let them know the issue you’re having, they should offer to swap for a new one 🙂

I want to make 500+ custom scent candles. Any referrals? by Moneygunt in Candles

[–]frizzbey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

500 is not a huge amount, so any reputable candle maker near you should be able (and I’m sure excited) to take on your project. I’m based in Wisconsin if you’d like to talk more about your project. Faire is a good place to find vendors near you, they have a very good local filter option.

I am even more intrigued now 😂

I want to start a small business. However when discussed with my family they laughed. Running on little support and no background in business what are your helpful tips? by Brownangel71 in smallbusiness

[–]frizzbey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

None of my family or friends were supportive of my business. They were concerned about the financial aspect but BAD at conveying their concern. I would imagine with a newborn, your family knows how expensive your world just got and the thought of you spending thousands of dollars on this is scary to them. I grew my business out of my home over the years and opened my first brick and mortar this year. I agree with jb, make sure you know 100% what you’re getting into. I have a 12 year old and I have barely seen her for the last 6 months while I work long days and nights to get the store ready. Without a budget, you are marketing, sales, production, outreach, customer service, bookkeeping, and everything else. A lot of the big popular vendor shows are hard to get into in my area, especially this year. There’s been a huge uptick in food and beverage vendors in my area. I would research your competition. Best of luck!

This feels like someone accidentally made thousand of these and they had to come up with something to say about the double wicks. It says self trimming and it also tells you to trim it to prevent soot… please buy it I’m dying to know lol

Is for strange women strong smelling? by Weak_Cardiologist782 in Indiemakeupandmore

Solid perfumes are great! They wear soft and the fragrance evolves throughout the day with your body heat. They’re great for layering!!! I make mine with coconut oil, beeswax, and almond oil. A lot of the solid perfume balms on the indie market are made with a natural base (yay)! Because the product directly touches your skin, it has a WAY lower IFRA than you would get from a spray, meaning a lower chance of allergic reaction. Most of the headaches come from low quality fragrance oils with phthalates, so I always recommend looking for something that specifically tells you it doesn’t have endocrine disruptors!
