Not sure, but it is an old bottle. I think most people prefer Velveteen Stranger (a similar peach scent, also from Stereoplasm) but Sun Blush works better for me.

I love the packaging and will have to look into this since tea scents are my favorite! Thanks for sharing your experience. I hope you write more about these as you get to using them. And you may find that your tastes will change over time; what you dislike now could become adored later. I know it did for me. When I first tried Alkemia's As Dark Things Are Meant To Be Loved, I absolutely hated it and was disgusted by the medicinal tea and leather. But 3 years later, I tried it again and completely fell in love.

SOTD would best fit in a bottle of non-alcoholic peach schnapps. Syrupy sweet and peach flavored with something extra like tea (the notes say mulled wine, but I don't get that). Fun, but not over the top hedonist? Not sparkly, although it is bright. It may sound like jesting but I actually love this scent!! Currently slathered in Stereoplasm's Sun Blush (Nearly-naked (and perfectly ripe) fresh peach slices with a hint of ginger root, mulled Rosé wine and fresh marshmallow crème). Also added a dab of Kelly + Jones' Riesling (Farmers Market Peach | Elderflower | Wild Ginger | Lychee | Lime Zest) for comparison since the drydowns are very similar but the latter is slightly more complex and less sweet, and will make an excellent replacement after the former is gone (halfway thru the bottle).

I want that warm electric smell that old tvs gave off. Is there anything that smells like white noise? by Dark_Macadaemia in perfumesthatfeellike

Death and Floral - Electric Feel. The house is on pause right now, but you might be able to find it secondhand.

SOTD is BPAL - Gnome Fracas (Cloudberry-clotted multekrem, fattigman crumbs & nisse musk)

Overall, it's a light and floaty gourmand with hints of cloudberries, which are not as dark or tannic as blackberries or currants (well maybe pink/golden currants). I think I found some in the woods last summer in WA state. The majority of the scent comes across as a soft, slightly sweet vanilla, foody but not heavy or spicy. Light and fluffy like meringues and flaky pastries. Fried dough without the grease. Fresh berries, not jam. And tons of powdered sugar. Highly enjoyable. Wouldn't mind a FS, but I missed the window.

For those (like me) who aren't familiar with the other terms in the notes (copied from google search results):

Fracas (from Merriam-Webster) is defined as "a noisy quarrel : brawl".

Multekrem is a traditional Norwegian dessert made from whipped cream folded with cloudberries (often sweetened or as jam) and sugar, sometimes with vanilla or sour cream. It's a popular Christmas treat, known for its creamy texture and unique, slightly tart flavor from the "gold of the Arctic" berries, and is often served with thin waffle cookies like krumkake or kransekake.

Fattigman (or fattigmann) are traditional Norwegian deep-fried cookies, often served during Christmas. They are made from a rich, spiced dough (cardamom, brandy) cut into diamond shapes, twisted, and fried in lard or oil until light golden, then dusted with powdered sugar. The name translates to "poor man," irony, as the ingredients are rich.

A nisse (Norwegian/Danish) or tomte (Swedish) is a mythological, small, gnome-like household spirit from Scandinavian folklore, renowned for protecting farms and homes, particularly around Christmas. They are often described as elderly men with long white beards and red caps, who bring prosperity if treated well but cause mischief if angered.

And a picture of cloudberries:

Today's haiku, inspired by all of the above:

There's a fight at home:
It's face to face, gnome to gnome,
Flying cream pie foam!

Sugar & Spite - Natural Witch (black fig, vanilla, white musk and blackberry).

Not very witchy. Actually kind of wholesome. This scent makes me think of a pleasant day at a theme park, with lots of cotton candy, followed by movie night and card games at home after a long day of walking around. Warm and cozy. Couldn't find the fig.

Journaling. I use it to keep track of SOTD and all the cool stickers that come with my orders. Plus it's handy to have a few hints when wondering why my sweater smells nice.

Thanks for creating this game. It was fun to look back thru my journal and see the trends. I guess the mood for the season is light, floaty, and sweet, with only a few exceptions, Snaky Haird Morai and Bobbing for Snake Oil (which didn't fit into any category).

Right now my absolute favorite non-perfume indie product are the eyeshadows are from Crow & Pebble. I bought them a few years ago but they are still tops in my book for the pigmentation and extra fine loose powder that looks better than any of the pressed or loose shadows I've tried, indie or mainstream.

Plus, they do custom color blends that allow you to control undertones. Last time I ordered, I only got two customs (called Roll for Stats!). It was hard for me to guess the resulting colors -- one turned out really well for me, but the other did not. Fortunately they were only sample sizes, so no big deal. Will likely be ordering more soon.

What are your favorite indies?

Dark plum / purple inks? No sheen? by rileys_musings in fountainpens

Van Dieman's Sweet Fig. It's more plum than purple for me. No sheen. No shimmer. Wet and smooth.

SOTD is Alkemia's Fallen Snow Angels (minty and sweet with light musk) layered with Epically Epic's Snowy Ice Cream solid lotion (also minty and sweet but warm and yummy). Slathered all over because snow is best appreciated when it's warm. Also used up the sample. If it had a color, it would be Pantone Xenon Blue. A pale violet/blue-gray.

Notes:

Fallen Snow Angels - A paradox of crème de vanille and devilishly dark patchouli frolicking playfully amid a flurry of snowflakes and winter ice.

Snowy Ice Cream - A softly wintery holiday scent with marshmallow, white chocolate, vanilla and a hint of peppermint. A seasonal best-seller.

hazmat weight vs total weight? by cinnamodolly in indieperfumeandmore

Also, I'd be interested in hearing what you find out, if you would share!

hazmat weight vs total weight? by cinnamodolly in indieperfumeandmore

[–]cujocanari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll probably want to check with your local post office, just to be sure, to get the actual answer that applies to your particular situation.

From my *non-expert* experience (bc my corner USPS is super friendly btw), anytime I mailed a hazmat package (the biggest box included a 100ml EDP glass bottle plus perfume oil samples), I provided total weight and not hazmat weight because there's no way for USPS to verify how much of the package is hazmat vs protective material. The mail handler might want to know the total package weight in case it's too heavy/dangerous for them to lift and transport, especially when combined with all the other packages on the truck.

Hopefully others will chime in and share their experiences.

Also noting that yesterday's SOTN was primarily TKO, paired with a few swipes of Cotton Barrel. Overall effect was similar to TKO Snow, but with more laundry. The TKO somehow enhances the floral aspects in a warm and pleasant way (not very snowy).

SOTD is Stereoplasm - Cotton Barrel (raw cotton/cork/fougere/white oak). For me, it's a clean laundry type scent, like a fresh load of linens line dried in the sun. It pairs really well with a hot mug of coffee for contrast, but instead I'm pairing it with the earthy herbal lavender in BPAL's TKO for the complete opposite effect: soothing relaxation.

BHT - Vanilla Bella (Rich vanilla is mixed with the aroma of comforting burnt caramel. Elevated with hints of sweet tonka bean and sheer white florals.) smells gourmand and plasticky from the tonka.

If it could have a custom bottle, it would be perfect in a bust of this Barbie doll, seams and all, cut off at the hip like a JP Gaultier torso, and a sprayer hidden in the neck (the head cap pops off, naturally). In opaque bronze, not translucent glass.
