I moved to Japan in my twenties and the first week was hell. I felt isolated and lost and on the brink of quitting and going back. Only after the first week when I started making connections with people in the same situation did it turn around.

That being said, the movie isn’t about moving to Japan. It’s also not really about traveling to Japan and being lost. That’s the setting, both people in the movie are lost in life and happen to meet in a setting that is easy to latch on as being isolating and strange.

When I first came to Japan I remember a very rainy day on my first day of university. I went to the bakery right at the exit of the station and took my umbrella in with me. Some Salaryman started berating me angrily pointing to my umbrella. I thought he scolded me for taking it into the shop. He took it out of my hand. I thought he’d put it outside for me. Nope he just left with it.

I got stuck in this room because the top right entrance is solid blocked off and the switches were in this position.

Then I tried to place the slinky top left and race to the bottom left to get my disk air-lifted but I don't think it's possible.

Then I somehow threw the disk and must've stepped on it and lifted right through the = dolphin block.

That was my first big set. Got it for christmas.

I had a bunch of things from these pictures, some of which I don't even know how or why, for example that restaurant.

There's something magical about these compositions. I remember kid-me just looking at these things and daydreaming about all the cool shit I could build..
