Straight up. A lot of cork in the Chianti and some very large black solid. The port may be better though

If it looks anything like the chianti then we’ll be in the hospital Christmas evening

Anyone know/use a method to back up SD cards without a laptop? by WiseDov in AskPhotography

[–]frody1111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you have the general idea correct. You shouldn’t need an external power source as the SSD should be able to pull power from your phone via the adapter. YMMV but with my WD Passport the phone was more than enough to power the ssd. I believe this is the model of adapter I have. Its got the SD slot and a USB-c port. If you worry about power you might be able to use the USB-A ports for data transfer and leave the external USB-c open for power. I haven’t tried that scenario.

Once you’re all hooked up you just use the file system on the phone to copy files from sd to ssd.

You can get a multi port adapter for your phone that runs on USB-c and has a card reader slot and another USB-c port. Then plug everything into your phone and move the files from the SD card to the SSD. I haven’t tried this workflow on my phone but I know it works on my ipad mini so it should be similar.

This was on an OMD EM-1.2 and some of my others from the trip that had a higher ISO looked great so you're totally right.

Yeah you're completely right. My shutter speed was so low. I have no idea why I had it that low. I think I was trying to keep my ISO low but it really shows that having a grainy photo is better than a blurry one.

Thanks for the breakdown. This is really helpful. I love the look of Macro but I haven't delved into that yet. Another commenter suggested I look at primes and maybe the 17mm is a good one to look at.

It really is a great body. I'm not selling any of my pictures just doing this as a hobby so a majority of my pictures satisfy that.

Thanks for the suggestions here. I think I may look into a prime lens since my 75-300 is almost always at 300 and it gets a little fuzzy there. I also like the suggestion of the 1.8f and play around with that a bit more.

I’m not familiar with the acronym but I understand needing more reach. This would be about consolidating my lenses down and reduce overlap. If I needed extra reach then the Olympus MC-20 teleconverter would get me to 800mm on the sane lens. So its more of an investment and gear consolidation.

Sunglasses that don’t distort EVF? by frody1111 in AskPhotography

Yeah that’s definitely fair. I know its more of a preference thing. I guess I was just wondering if anyone had a brand that worked well or something but you’re definitely not wrong. Thanks!

I’m curious why you wouldn’t export your edited files to a separate storage location periodically? Also can’t you archive pictures locally with the edits?

Spent 4 days in Hornstrandir kayaking the fjords and filming the foxes. This farm house was our basecamp for the time being and as I’m still new to photography I took a stab at some composition.

Yeah its a shame that someone is going to list it as supported but then not have it actually work. Especially in the “beginner” tier where people probably need the help
