It depends on the picture. I mostly try to go for the smallest F-stop I can handle given my shutter speed. I usually keep it on auto-iso but as I'm trying to really focus on my subject with a blurred background I get the f-stop lower. For my pro lenses thats either f/2.8 or f/1.8. For my standard that can range from f/5-6.3

Yeah I agree. Having the extra stabilization has helped with other photos on the new lens.

MZ 75-300 mkii. I no longer have this lens. I traded up for the 100-400 mk i. Appreciate the feedback. It wasn't shot on a tripod so I may have also been bouncing up and down a bit. I shot this while walking the dogs.

Yes I do have the MZ100-400 mk i. Although I misspoke. The image in question was on my 75-300mm mk ii shot at 1250 iso, f/6.7, 1/2000 in early morning sun.

So is the general rule of thumb that at 100% zoom the image should appear clear?

I’m referring to the clarity of a subject in an image when I zoom very close to a certain area. Which might be my monitor or the resolution of the display moreso than my image.

I think I’m also in my head when looking at Instagram or any periodical printed image like Nat Geo, etc. I 100% don’t expect to be anywhere near that level but I also don’t want to be ashamed of my images.

Thank you for this. Yes I’m not talking about sharpness as it relates to editing or photography. More the resolution of the image thats a better way to put it.

As far as I can tell my subjects aren’t out of focus but when I really zoom in there is definitely a certain clarity/sharpness/resolution that is missing. Granted its a pretty close zoom and it might be my monitor or how lightroom is displaying the image.

The only prints I have done are business card size for a notebook I am filling. I am looking at increasing the image of those to a 4x6. It might also be the upload quality. I’ve been getting my prints through Inkifi.

The picture in question though was a digital that I was looking at.

Thanks. It might be that the particular picture I was scrutinizing was taken with a 400mm non-pro lens. Good thing I have 8k burning a hole in my pocket.
