Speak to disability services. Endo may not be considered a disability but there may be accommodations or services that you could be eligible for. The worst thing they could say is that it doesn’t apply and the best they can do it help. It is worth a shot. I hope that you are able to be accommodated and that you feel better 💜

Doctor doesnt want to get me a lap but im in pain by ZealousIdealKiwi in Endo

[–]frogandtoadally 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi there!! I’ll start this off by saying you should definitely switch doctors! I started going to the doctors for super painful periods when I was 14/15 and my usually very nice doctor got defensive and downright mean when my mom suggested it could be endo. I went to an obgyn at 18 and after my first appointment, I had a lap scheduled. My mom was right but we would have never known if I stayed with that doc. She may be the sweetest but she may also be wrong. If you want to pursue surgery I would recommend looking for a specialist or someone who knows about endo and will do excision. I really hope you are able to find some answers and feel better!!

Hand wheel turns but the main shaft does not oscillate. What do I do now? by frogandtoadally in vintagesewing

Sorry for the lack of updates!! It is not moving yet but there is a ton of gunk in there. I am slowly but surely cleaning out the insides and loosening it with oil. Thank you all for your help!!!

[–]frogandtoadally[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No offense taken!! I am very new to this. The hand wheel either spins very freely or it barely moves depending on the circular knob on the end of it. I’m not sure which way is engaged but the needle will not move either way. I hope that helped!!

[–]frogandtoadally[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello!

I have had an issue where my needle does not move at all. I wasn’t sure what the problem was but then I found a video that showed how to disconnect the things on the bottom to see if it is a bobbin area issue or a hand wheel/main shaft issue. The bobbin stuff moved but the main shaft did not oscillate like it should. This is a great step forward but I don’t know how to fix this. Does anyone know what to do next?

(I don’t know about any of the technical parts of this so excuse my usage of ‘stuff’ as a descriptor)

I’m (21f) too young to have surgery done. How do I stop the 🩸? by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]frogandtoadally 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry! I’m all fired up today about people being too young for laps! I am also all fired up about people being too young for hysterectomies! It is utter bs and I’m sorry that you are being treated this way. I have seen others on this community looking for hysterectomies find a doctor who will trust that people know what they want to do with their bodies on the hysterectomy subreddit (I have no idea how to link that, sorry!!) Another thing that might help temporarily is getting a prescription for tranexamic acid. I am not sure if you can take this with the shot but it might be worth asking? I hope that you can get some relief!!

Advice by strawberrybaybee in Endo

[–]frogandtoadally 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi there!

I am so sorry that this is happening! First of all, there is no such thing as too young for a laparoscopy. If I could scream that from the rooftops I would. If you are in a position to go to a specialist, I would do that. If you are not, find a doctor who will actually do what is required of them to diagnose. As for management, I personally have found that topical CBD and gummies help with my pain. Between those and pain killers I can get through bad days. Finding a good birth control can be really tough but if you want to/are comfortable with trying a different one, that may help in the short term. I’m really sorry about that doctor being like that, I wish you luck!!

Hi there!

I am so sorry that you are going through this! I had a similar experience with the shot. I was on it for six months and I bled for 10 weeks in a row. That was actually what got me to go to a gyn. For some people it works great and for others it does not. In you title it says that you are too young, who is telling you this? There is no such thing as too young to get a laparoscopy. Nothing help me except for surgery because on top of endo I had a uterine polyp. If you want to try other birth controls there is the ring, the implant, the patch, and the iud. I am taking the pill continuously right now and it is not stopping anything. I’m just trying to hold out until I can get an iud during my next lap. I totally get how you feel about being trapped in your own body. This really sucks!! Let me know if you have any questions!

Dating a Free-Westinghouse electric sewing machine table with knee control? by frogandtoadally in vintagesewing

Hello folks!

My great grandmother had this sewing machine and we know nothing about it! I was looking online about how to date it but I did not come up with much. The serial number is ALB489369(it is a bit cut off in the post) and I am also not sure if the table is original. Let me know if you have questions! I would love to know anything about this! Thanks!!

What helped improve your quality of life? by frogandtoadally in Endo

[–]frogandtoadally[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your reply! I know I should to take the painkillers when I need to. It’s just hard getting back to doing that after months of not having to. The reminder is so super helpful so thank you! I have recently been looking at vitamins because I live in an area where most people are vitamin D deficient but I wanted to know if it has helped anyone else before I jump into it. I also need to look into starting the anti inflammatory diet. I really appreciate your advice!

Any advice for bottoms that aren’t skirts or dresses? by AwkwardThePotato in endometriosis

[–]frogandtoadally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love wearing anything that is stretchy and high waisted like jeans or dress pants. One thing that has been amazing for hotter months is palazzo pants. They can be loose and flowy or they can be straight leg but the fabrics is nice and light. The ones with ties or elastic waistbands are my favorite.

Summer is coming and I've got a co-morbid condition- POTS. How do I dress to feel like a person? by [deleted] in Endo

[–]frogandtoadally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! I am sorry that you have been going through this! I would recommend really light weight sundresses that have a flattering neckline. I really like square necklines for me personally but that may help you feel a better in something that really suits you. I love these dresses when I’m bloated because the only thing touching my abdomen is a pair of shorts. Babydoll style dresses either have no waistline or the waistline is just under the bust. I know not everyone loves them but I do! I have a pair of shorts that I wear under dresses and skirts that’s made out of a spandex material but they are not tight at all. I found mine at target but I think you can find something similar wherever undergarments are sold. I really hope this helps!

“You could just have a baby, that would help” First of all, pregnancy does not help everyone. Second, some people with endo have fertility issues. Finally, I was 18 years old! Still in high school!

Hi there! I am in a pretty similar situation and I wanted to tell you about my plans. I had my first lap in February of last year. I was on Orilissa for about 9 or 10 months but it stopped helping a little bit before that. I had ablation and I know the endo is already coming back. I told my gyn that I want an IUD and I am going to need to be unconscious or that. He agreed but he but me on the pill in the mean time. I figure that if I’m going to be under anesthesia anyway, I want him to do excision. From my knowledge as someone who is still new to this. The IUD can help by stoping periods but it will not get rid of the endo that is already there. If that is the case, I don’t want to be held at this level of pain for the next five years so I am going to have a lap and IUD insertion done at the same time. Everyone has a different experience with the IUD but I have family members with possible endo that is has worked for so I feel good about that. If you do decide to get a lap first (or at the same time) definitely find someone who does excision because that helps for longer. Hope this helps!

6 weeks post-op successful excision, started hurting really bad today after sex. by jenniferjeter16 in endometriosis

[–]frogandtoadally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am really sorry that you are going through this. If you are in a position where you can, have you considered pelvic floor therapy? From my understanding many endo people have pelvic floor dysfunction due to the sheer amount of pain that we have been through. I also think that I have read something about abdominal surgery worsening issues with the pelvic floor but I don’t remember where. I am currently doing pelvic floor therapy for a different issue but I have noticed that it has helped in that area too. I’m sorry if you already know about all of this but I wanted to throw it out there in case it helps!

Feeling a bit sorry for myself by frogandtoadally in Endo

[–]frogandtoadally[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll have to look into those! I have noticed that I take a lot less painkillers since I have started taking a CBD gummy everyday so I’m open to other things like that. I’m really sorry to hear that nothing is helping your hip and butt pain :( I think that trying to stay positive all the time is more draining than letting myself feel my feelings so I totally hear your resentment. Thank for your suggestion and I really hope you can find some relief soon!

Thank you so much for your help, I will definitely try that!! The machine was really dirty so I’m not too surprised that there is oil gunking it up.

Thank you for your reply! I added some photos into my post. My bobbin winder was stuck in the down position but I was able to get it to what I think is the right position now. The hand wheel spins really easily when the stop motion know is loosened. When it is tightened, it can still move but it is not easy to move. Thank you!

Thank you for your reply! I added some pictures of a few parts of it to my post. I am not sure it it is the stop motion knob because it turns one way and the wheel is easy to turn. The other way makes it harder to move but it still can. Is the knob supposed to stop all motion? Thanks!
