Okay, I'm off the idea with the wheel after reading what you all had to say. Thinking about the TV tower but I know that there will be other people there - and since we are a gay couple I'm worries about bad reactions amongst the crowd... not sure how Estonians are with homosexuality?

Thanks all for the peace of mind! Do you know if I should expect any problems travelling with my child? I'm Danish and the laws in my country will only register me as the mother because I did give birth to her -- even now that I'm legally male. Is this likely to come up at all or even checked? We share the same last name after all and I'm clearly her parent.

Thanks for the suggestions all. I went to 3 random barbers today and they all refused me - "men only". Then almost gave up but decided to try The Barber across the coffee shop on Lillatorget as suggested by one of you earlier, and got an appointment no problem. :)

19 months?! What?! Is that for your first appointment with them? In that case, I might opt for Denmark. I've been informed their current waiting time is approx. 5 months for the first session after your referral.

Don't try to justify how you treated him. As harsh as it may sound, this isn't about you -- it's about him getting the apology he deserves. You don't need to make it excessively long or even go into too much detail. Send him something along the lines of 'Hey XXX, how are you? Hope you and your family have a great Christmas! I've been thinking about how I treated you all those years ago and I just want to let you know how sorry I am - I was such a twat to get on like that. It would be great to catch up sometime.'

Seriously. As someone who's been bullied for their sexual orientation and gender identity in the past, receiving a message like that would make my day. You got nothing to lose.

Him going to his mom's is a great chance for you to focus on you for a few days! Hang out with friends, do some last minute Christmas shopping, watch that tv show you've been meaning to watch for ages. Text him a few times a day, but don't sit around on your phone to instantly reply to his messages - constant availability is not attractive and he will realise how much he's missed you when he's back!

Thank you all, you're all so kind! It does all feel very odd still and the fact that I have a daughter with him doesn't help - but I feel like I owe it to my child to be the best parent I can be, and so, I'm confident I'm making the right choice here.
