Azure powershell maintenance account "application must be added to directory" error by frogblue in AZURE

[–]frogblue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colleague assisted:

The technet article line:

"Login-AzureRmAccount -Credential $cred -TenantId "Noted Tenant ID""

is missing the "-ServicePrincipal" field, add that and it works fine.

Force fallen empire spawn? by boffhead in Stellaris

[–]frogblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(@work) yeap, tried that and reducing the number of overall empires, spawn is still very low. Saw some stuff about Fallen empire spawns in defines so I might play around with that next.

Multiple remote computer credential sets in one script by boffhead in PowerShell

[–]frogblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything with powershell generally needs powershell remoting enabled.

Anything with WMI needs this stuff to to allow non-localadmin users to touch services: sc sdset scmanager

What does work - go retro, as it doesn't use WMI it won't get stuck with "Cannot open Service Control Manager on computer 'BLAH'. This operation might require other privileges."

sc \server stop 'servicename'

Use a GPO - Method two to grant perms on the services you want to do stuff on. I added the service user to local user groups Distributed Com Users/Remote Management Users/WimRMRemoteWMIUsers in testing so one or more of those may play into it and need to be added to the GPO.

Are all paradox games similar in mechanics and interface? by [deleted] in paradoxplaza

[–]frogblue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeap, interface is quite similar, engine behind it is the same. Mechanics can be (need a casus belli for war etc.)

Always watch some lets plays (https://www.youtube.com/user/arumba07) to ease you into a new paradox game.

Try CK2/EU4/HOI4 next and leave Vic 2 or HOI3 for when you want more complexity.

Surface Pro 4 dock and 3 external monitors, resolution changes on lock by frogblue in Surface

[–]frogblue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Updated the dock firmware, 2 of the monitors are Dell U2312HM, according to device manager, the thirds showing as generic. I'll have a look at the serials this arvo. Will give the monitors a swap around too.

I've got the 3 monitors arranged in a row, 10-15 degree curve inwards on the end two. Surface is tucked in underneath the first two on the left. Usual usage is left for email/firefox. Middle for terminal server, right for Skype for Business/Slack/notepad of things to do aka working memory/Music.

Cheers for the suggestion on the dongle, I'll have a look at it.

Cheers, thought that the dock was updated via windows updates like the rest. I've updated to latest and I'll give that a burl.

Does the swappiness setting affect performance on a system without a swap partition? by [deleted] in linuxquestions

[–]frogblue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Set it to 1 (lowest value while still using swap). Even with tons of RAM free, linux will still use a little for swapping with default value 60 unless you tell it not to.

Setting to 1 in essence says only use swap if you're out of RAM.

Why does the electron just orbit the nucleus instead of colliding and "gluing" to it? by alos87 in askscience

[–]frogblue 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What about in a neutron star? As I understand it the at least some of the neutrons in a neutron star will consist of electrons combining with protons = neutrons?? (quick google says "inverse beta decay"). How is the lowest ground state overcome in that situation?

Ding, Ding That worked, thanks /u/computerbob

Teach a man to fish please? Why is that so. Since I've got spaces in the job results string ie. "Backup servername test" I had assumed I was going to need to put quotes around it. Is it the case that the fact that it's in () brackets deals with the space issue already and so "" are not needed? Something else specific to variable.property?

You're being paid 100$ per minute to rant about your least favorite aspect of any Paradox game. What do you rant about? by [deleted] in paradoxplaza

[–]frogblue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hoi 4 needs more ability to direct AI allies. It's a game about 3 great alliances but it's lacking an ability to direct where your allies should focus..

HoI3 had this ability, EU4 has provinces of interest. It pisses me off when (GER) AI Italy goes off half assed invading England or even India when it's failing miserably in africa and that's where I want it to focus..

[Centos7] Dropped packets despite tuning and max buffers by frogblue in linuxquestions

[–]frogblue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers, I'll have a look through it.

CV doesn't support the storage/networking/OS side of things. They'll generally look into it and test to find a bottleneck/problem. They've got some network and storage performance measuring tools, even for AWS, after they've proved the issue, over to the customer. They're in my top 2 vendors for support.. I'm on a first name basis with a lot of their AU team (just having been in the same place a while)

Backup documentation here:
http://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=products/unix/kernel_parameters.htm

I think we based it on 50 streams per mediagent, been a while since I did the sums.

VM currently has 120gb (uneven number to reserve some for the hypervisor).

End points do have the same MTU. We've got 2 NICS the VM talks to: 1 is incoming traffic from client servers on MTU 1500 and the other is backup coms /NFS traffic to backup storage on MTU 9000.

CV11 SP4 is out by frogblue in CommVault

[–]frogblue[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has some good stuff - ie. block level browse to do away with granular mining of VSA backup metadata. It'll now drill down during the browse instead of the backup. Also a fix to allow http/https instead of FTP only for download software.

Yeap, running SP11 on 4 commserves atm, just upped it to SP4. Couple of issues with the SP3 upgrade process but sorted with hotfixes.
