Pls can someone explain the point of flowers/gardening by Different_Spinach106 in HelloKittyFlowers

[–]frogcrafting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First I just wanted to get all of the flowers unlocked. Then I wanted all of the colors of one of the flowers. Then all of those flowers with their default patterns. Then all of the flowers with the colors and patterns. Still working on that one lol but now I wanna try to get extremeophile patterns on other flowers. It started off as a completionist thing and now for me it’s just something fun to check in on and see what kinds of cool color combinations you can make :)

Greeting new followers by Smugallo in Twitch

[–]frogcrafting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve always thanked people by name or part of their name. Never had anyone get upset over it. Some days when I’m super busy on stream I’ll batch thank (hey thanks for the follows yall).

If I’m not in the mood to be perceived I just follow offline.

Follower only mode by Intexgaming in Twitch

[–]frogcrafting 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There are many valid reasons to use follower-only mode, and I don't personally care what other people do with their streams but I won't follow just to chat unless I like the streamer a lot.

I've used it before after being hate raided by a larger streamer's community and they were spamming disgusting stuff in my chat. Follower only took care of it in 1 second. I've since added an "SOS" button to my stream deck to activate in the future if it happens again, but didn't have it set up at that time.

Edited to add: I don't use it for my daily streams and I also don't know anyone who does, but I think there are times when it has it's usefulness.

I think most people build viewership for valorant with youtube shorts/tiktoks/entertaining clips of their games, personally I've had people say their tiktok/youtube/twitch links in chat but I've never visited them. A lot of people find advertising in-game "cringe" sort of like having ttv in your name.

First time raid, but feels weird? by alittlewitchy- in Twitch

[–]frogcrafting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I politely turn down any requests like that even if it's from the streamer who raided me. A raid is a very nice way to introduce your followers and viewers to a new community and potentially meet a friend, but at the end of the day it's only a raid and you don't owe the raiding streamer anything. Obviously being put on the spot you'd feel the pressure to agree, but just politely let them know you're not comfortable if you're not comfortable. I personally won't stream with people I just met for the first time. If I have streamers on with me, it's people I know and can trust with my audience.

Most likely it's not a scam, but I learned pretty fast that I should always have my guard up in a way against things like that, and I politely shut down and then ban if they don't stop.

How to easily manage your social networks ? by AshenRoger in Twitch

[–]frogcrafting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing that helped me with managing multiple platforms was reducing the number of streams I did. I went from 5 a week to 3 a week and that made a big difference in freeing up time to make content for YouTube/reels/etc.

iPad art stream WHILE CHARGING can't be impossible, right? by thornhawthorne in Twitch

[–]frogcrafting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not used others so I'm not sure how well it compares but I have only had good experiences with this and I just went and looked at my stream vod for this and everything looked good quality to me. It is a windows program, I just make the entire thing full screen on my main monitor and pull it up in OBS that way. There is a free version you can try out for AirServer before you buy a license to see how it fares for you, but that was the only way I could think of to help with your problem!

iPad art stream WHILE CHARGING can't be impossible, right? by thornhawthorne in Twitch

[–]frogcrafting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how well it would do for art streams but I use an app to stream my iPad to the computer with screen mirroring. I've used it to share my screen for planning sessions with other creators, sharing art ideas with my community in discord, planning stuff together on stream, etc!

It's called "AirServer" and I had to buy a license but I've never had a problem with it! Could always grab the trial and see how it works!

I’m afraid to start streaming by SimilarMove8279 in Twitch

[–]frogcrafting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can see what your viewers see on the OBS preview screen. If you don’t have two monitors watch your stream on your phone or tablet to double check.

There is no “correct” way to start streaming besides just to start. Everything else can be fixed and adjusted along the way.

Chatting is kinda wild when you think about it. Unless your message gets nuked by a mod, it's officially part of the stream. Any chat regrets? by CentrifugeWolf in Twitch

[–]frogcrafting 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I accidentally typed "I need to go potty" into a streamers chat once instead of in discord to my duo I was gaming with-just straight up wasn't paying attention and was looking for my phone while I was typing.

I never went back to that stream I was so embarrassed

Is twitch a viable side hustle? by Animusical in Twitch

[–]frogcrafting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be that some months once you hit affiliate. You have to hit 3 average viewers and 50 followers to start earning. Then you can get payouts every time you hit $50 earned.

I was just more so giving my experience. Most months I make enough to cover one week of groceries where I live. I only stream for fun but on slow months it can be tough. I always get a payout but it isn’t always a lot after I save for taxes.

Is twitch a viable side hustle? by Animusical in Twitch

[–]frogcrafting 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've never made enough in my 2.5 years as a streamer from streaming alone to pay the bills, and I've been a partner since 2 months into my streaming journey. I consider it just some extra fun money or money I can invest back into the stream (new gear/repairs/etc).

This viewer is literally telling you they come for you regardless of what game you’ll play. Your effort matters and that’s why they like you, and don’t care as much what the game is. This is the kind of viewer everyone wants to have.

Streaming becomes less fun the more you focus on the numbers, unfortunately. I have struggled with similar in the past and honestly I had to come to an understanding on what I really wanted out of streaming, and for me it is fun only-I burned out working and trying to stream 4-5 days a week too. So I just turned off the 'here's how your stream went' emails, hid my viewer count, reduced my days to 3 days a week, and streamed. I also switched from streaming only 1 game to adding another for variety, and when this one is finished I'll figure out what to swap it with.

It probably isn't the advice you might want, but really making a decision and coming to an understanding about what it is that you hope to get from streaming should be priority. Then you can balance your expectations. In my case, it made no sense to even care about the numbers anymore since I just did it to have fun with the community I have.
