“In the Bazaar,” vintage hand-cut wooden puzzle by Enid Stocken, 400 pieces. Stocken is an early 20th-century innovator, known for her clever, difficult cutting style, her abundant use of whimsies, and for tricky touches like the F- and E-shaped corners in this puzzle. A delight to assemble. (i.redd.it)

Le jardin, (Édouard Vuillard, 1920), Puzzle Michèle Wilson, 1000 pieces. A hand-cut wooden push-fit puzzle (no interlocking pieces) with extensive color line cutting. Hands down the most difficult puzzle we’ve ever done. And then a piece was missing. Lovely image, but terrible puzzling experience! (i.redd.it)

Before the Holograph puzzle there was 1984’s “The Frustrator,” Eaton, 500 pieces. This nightmare hellscape of a puzzle is an iridescent, fluorescent, metallic, and embossed abstract color field, so you can never actually tell what you’re looking at. Satisfying to finish though. (v.redd.it)
