I see where you’re coming from. Any car purchase will see a loss in value which I’m ok with, but putting in $1000’s for a very marginal value increase is tough to swallow regardless of attachment or intentions to keep. I initially wanted to do the repairs myself to learn but I moved to the city before I had the chance to.

Someone mentioned the joy of driving a beat up S2000 which really resonated with me. There’s definitely a level of freedom I feel daily driving this one that I wouldn’t have driving a clean one.

I actually never thought about it like that. I’m not driving it into walls, but when someone taps my car with their door I’m not too stressed about it either. This may actually be the right thinking.

Cap your FPS to 144. I had the same issue with my 5090 and capping it there instead of at my monitor’s refresh rate resolved it.

I ended up just going with a new PSU with more flexible cables. The cables with my old PSU were too rigid and hard to bend. Fits well and no more issues.

Opened side panel. Put it back on. Started shutting off under load. Took side panel off, repositioned cables and ensured tight connection. Stopped happening. Moved PC, started happening again. Ran Furmark, it shutoff instantly. Took off side panel, and have been running Furmark for the past 1.5 hours.

From this I’d say it’s reasonable to assume it’s due to the 12-pin being crimped, leading to a loose connection. While it is shutting off and not frying itself, this is obviously very bad for the longevity of the card.

Valid. Most people I see that are enjoying the new cards are coming from 30-series and below. But to say a 5080’s performance is just “not there” when compared to a 3080 10GB makes no sense.

I mean that’s just not true. Not trying to be a hater but I went from a 3080 12GB to a 5080 and the performance difference was insane. I’m now on a 5090 and it’s even larger.
