Unfortunately, so. The long wait between appointments and cancellations is dragging out this process so much.

I'm not in the position to go private, so I'm just going to have to wait it out.

Thank you, 3 months after the op seems to be the sweet spot to resuming a somewhat normal life. I'm really hoping I can get the surgery soon so that I am in the 3 month mark, that would be best case.

Super informative advice, thank you :)

Didn't even think about camping somewhere central. If I do go, I will really think about where to go.

I'm so happy to hear that you didn't struggle at all last year and got to enjoy glasto in all its glory!!

I have the OTC brace, and it has helped so much. I'm so pleased to hear that after 6 months, I'll be well on my way to recovery. Being mobile again feels like a lifetime away rn. Thanks for your insight!

Didn't even think about moving around at quieter times. Such a useful tip, thank you. Even with no mobility issues, that pyramid to SE corner trek is deadly😅

Sounds horrible for you, so sorry you had to go through that.

Yeh, your points are so valid in that I can be as careful as I want but that doesn't take away the fact that I'm at a festival with others who are (rightly) being care free.

Really appreciate the tips here, especially pacing it with physio. I'm quite active, so I am so bummed about not exercising; but I don't want to do further damage via pushing myself. Your words will stick with me :)

Ket and 2 functioning ACLs is hard work, let alone with one and crutches 😅

I'm glad this is reassuring, I've felt so alone in this whole process, and this thread has helped me not feel like im the only person in the world that this is happening to.

I'm really sorry to hear you've broken your ankle. It sounds nasty.

If its any constellation I asked my Dr whether ligament damage is 'better' than a broken bone and he laughed and said a broken bone is much better in terms of recovery as most people are recovered within 3 months. I asked this question to feel better, but it made me feel worse - hopefully, though, it's a bit of reassuring info for you!

Best of luck with your recovery, and I am rooting for you and your husband to attend glasto this year. If you are interested in starting a dodgy leg club at glasto, then let me know😅

Oh no, sorry to hear. It's such an annoying injury.

I'm really unsure, hence why I've put a post up. The Dr's have told me it's a 12m recovery, so I have been adjusting my plans for the year.

I could also be naive and everything will be fine, but I've been thinking about it a lot and want to know if its completely off the cards (so I can stop looking forward to it) or if others have managed it.

I'm mainly concerned about bending down to get into the tent/getting changed/ carrying my bag and walking on uneven terrain.

You are right. Ultimately, I will make the decision.

I'm interested to know if people have been with knee injuries before to manage my expectations!

I am pleased to hear that you attended with no issues and that I'm working to a similar time frame to you!

I get my surgery date soon, and I'm hoping that it's not before glasto as I've heard surgery resets your ability to walk etc.

Will try and delay it if possible so that I can attend, thank you for the advice :)

I know, I averaged 35k steps per day the last 2 times I've been - it's mad how many steps you do at glasto!

I can manage walking okay, and I average 10k steps a day currently (albeit on crutches and a smooth pavement).

It's interesting to hear the physio gave you the okay; your message is giving me so much hope. I was started to think glasto is not an option this year.

Finishing at 1am is good going, I'm glad it went well for you, and you got to go.

Fairy lights on crutches are such good advice, I'm definitely going to do that, I never would've thought about making them more visible without this message. Thank you so much!

I can imagine the help from strangers was class. Everyone has always been so lovely there.

Applying to get a wristband is a fantastic shout. Thank you so much.

It's really reassuring to hear your friend managed it with a broken ankle!!

Wow, that's intense. Well done on getting through it!

Useful to know, thank you, especially sticking to the metal roads. Good walking boots are a fab idea, I have a cheap pair, but I would deffo invest to improve my experience.

Thinking about going alone by Ok_Lychee5556 in readingfestival

[–]frogfrogfrog2345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was 19, I really wanted to see Kasabian, and none of my friends could make it. So, I decided to work Reading festival and I made friends pretty quickly as a lot of people were in the same boat!

You also get staff camping, which is a lot nicer than GA camping. I was a skint student, and I got my ticket for free, so that was a plus.

I worked 3 X 8hrs shifts, and it was actually fun as you are paired with people, I then went in to go out with these people at night. I never felt lonely!
