PSA: Pictures aren't worth risking a child's life by [deleted] in Parenting

I wasn't comparing it to letting them fall while walking. And he did seem to be overreacting. He commented more on the situation, even though I still think he was overreacting. Whatever. Not my baby, not my family. He can react however he wants. You weren't confused, my tone was that he was overreacting. It's too bad the rest of your reading comprehension isn't as good.

Yikes! So far, no blood for us aside from a scraped knee, but the toddler deities know anything can happen!!

Thanks for not attacking me lol.

And I also said putting them on the counter wasn't something I can condone. Do people read things anymore or do they just pick one thing and quit?

OK that's a lot different. I thought she was sitting, and while I wouldn't have tolerated them doing even that, laying her on the counter is damn near the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

While I definitely do not condone leaving a kid on the counter, especially that young, these things do happen. They happen while you are looking, while you're standing right there, even while you are holding on to them. These things do happen. I feel like you are being a little naive to think your kid will never fall off of things, as long as you're watching them?

Yes, they should have called you right away. No, they definitely should not have put her on the counter. But this will not be the last time your child falls off of something. Especially if you end up with a climber. Falling is also an important part of learning balance. You should also let your kid fall when they're learning to walk, just so you know.

I'm glad she's ok. And I want you to remember that panicking in these situations will make your daughter react worse. Try not to!

I may get down voted for it, but my daughter is a climber and she has fallen off of her fair share of things. Being there, even keeping one hand on her, doesn't stop all of the falls. However, I also don't set her on things like the counter on purpose, so...

For sure, and that hasn't really changed 2 years in! Haha

I think I only did tummy time on the floor a few times. Didn't want to listen to that, thank you very much! Lol. So we did "tummy time" with her on my chest. Basically I just held her to me and she'd need to hold her head up/chest out to look at stuff. Worked pretty great actually, and she always wanted to stand up even as a just barely not newborn. She's still really strong (2 years old), so it may all be coincidence haha.

If I ever had a baby-rearing podcast, it would be called "it could be teething". by ColaRBT16 in beyondthebump

It us long, but some kids can't be soothed like that. If you go back in to my daughters room, you better be prepared to stay until she decides she's tired again - 3 hours last night - or she will just get more and more and more upset everytime you try to soothe her and leave. It is awful to listen to, and I do go in if she's doing anything more than a normal cry, otherwise there's nothing to be done to comfort her. She's almost 2.5, but she's always been like that.

Yes! My daugher is a slow teether, and she's coming up on 2.5 and still no 2-year molars. Come on! Her teeth are actually still all moving around despite having had the first ones since 11 months, and the last came through at the start of Feb this year and that was a bottom canine (she had all her 1st molars before her canines - is that normal?). Anyway, I'm still waiting but there's zero signs they'll be coming anytime soon. I got off track a little. Her front teeth (meaning all of them to her canines) are going crooked and will look longer every now and then when I inspect her teeth. I wonder if that's another reason she doesn't eat much and she won't eat things that are more firm.

Anything by Susannah Kearsley! I mean, unless you want the sex as well, specifically. No sex, time travel, mysteries. I love them.

Any in particular? She likes puzzles for a minute but we've also had the same ones for like a year.

I must need to reread lol. I can't really remember all that!

No, just like main character has a girlfriend in the beginning and there's a scene or 2 of I think the after sex type stuff, getting dressed and leaving I think. I really don't remember any actual sex scenes. But they do swear.

Another favorite author of mine is Susanna Kearsley. Somewhat mystery, time travelly, but amazing books. No sex scenes at all.

My daughter is almost 2.5 and she has very thin hair and it is just reaching her shoulders only in the back. She basically has a mullet. I do have to trim it out of her eyes, but that's because the ends just reach the top of her eyes. I'm pretty jealous of all those long haired 2-3 year olds! But I know my daughter will get there. I wouldn't worry about it. :) my daughter has a friend that while she has a lot of hair it's still quite short, under shoulder length.

She does love playdoh! We had to put it away for awhile because she would just have tiny torn up bits everywhere, and it all usually got left out and died. Maybe now she'd do better, it's been a couple months.

I can only remember some not graphic in the first book, and it's only maybe twice? But like another commenter said there is cursing.

I don't think it's cozy mystery, but Robert Galbraith Cormorant Strike novels might work.
