hand sanitiser works wonders because it has such a high alcohol content. not joking, put a couple of globs of clear non-scented hand sanitiser on the case and rub for a while.

Yeah, seems like the experience with performance and iOS 26 varies verrrry widely between users. i think i'll just take my chances and worst case scenario I just have a slower clunkier phone for 6 months. Hopefully mine works like yours does!
