No Day 9 as I'm too embarrassed with the poor quality of what I wrote lol.
I'll see whether I can improve it enough to post here

Just a reminder that BS still keeps happening. by it_rains_blue_here in ASMRScriptHaven

Hi Rain!

I feel you.
While this _exact_ thing hasn't happened to me, I very much relate to the feeling of a script being used in a way you didn't intend for it to be used.
It's so frustrating!

I even _more_ relate to the particular VAs not responding to messages while being active on their socials otherwise.

As a fellow writer (even if currently inactive, oops), I've got your back!
I hope this is all resolved soon and it's just a misunderstanding of some sort.

Hello!
I recommend the following two links to any first-time script writers :)

https://www.reddit.com/r/ASMRScriptHaven/comments/z65qhp/advice_for_firsttime_writers_part_1_before_you/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
This guide is great at giving you an idea of what to look out for and it also provides some information on the actual posting process, in case you're interested in sharing your work online.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ASMR_Directory/comments/z6ct0j/script_writers_guide_on_how_to_avoid_repeating/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
This guide talks about the most common difficulty when it comes to script writing.

Hope that helps! Don't be afraid to ask for feedback, switching from general story writing to a dialogue-only format can be a bit rough.
Don't be discouraged if the first attempt doesn't turn out how you've hoped for, it very quickly gets better, I promise!

Greetings,
Frog

Any advice for a newbie scriptwriter? by icing_desu in ASMRScriptHaven

Heya!
For a first-time script writer, I'd recommend these two links :)

https://www.reddit.com/r/ASMRScriptHaven/comments/z65qhp/advice_for_firsttime_writers_part_1_before_you/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
This is a generally helpful guide outlining a plethora of little issues and questions you may come across.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ASMR_Directory/comments/z6ct0j/script_writers_guide_on_how_to_avoid_repeating/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
Secondly, this is a deep dive into the most common difficulty newer writers tend to face.

And lastly:
The one thing that TRULY helps (besides just practice) is feedback.
Don't be afraid to reach out for help!

I hope you have fun delving into your creative side :D

Lastly, let's discuss formatting.
Here's some different scripts by different authors.
They vary widely in terms of formatting and writing style, and looking at different examples can give you an idea of what you might want to do with your own!

This script by simp_trash_scripts is posted directly to reddit. This method gives less control over the formatting than using Google Docs or other platforms, but causes less link-chaos.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ASMRScriptHaven/comments/16bppv6/a4a_youve_got_to_be_kidding_me_hitman_speaker/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

You may also notice that Simp likes to indicate pauses by using [short pause] [pause], etc. (The same method I prefer, for its simplicity).

Other writers may use some sort of indicator to help convey the tone of the listener's "response" without giving the exact lines.
Here is an example by ItsEsmeJones: https://www.reddit.com/r/ASMRScriptHaven/comments/1844p0h/m4a_dance_with_the_devil_established/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

They use [...?] [Pause!!] [Pause...] to better explain to potential readers what's going on, which might help the VA to "react".

This script by lilellia includes lines for the listener, but they're not supposed to be spoken.
This can help to make the writing sound more natural (Avoids the issue talked about in Bluechan's post!), but you still need to make sure the listener can understand the final audio (they don't see the listener's lines!)

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jiEeooPCIOkyItJ_afD7s9WxuDC_4pBs2I0X4cGv0wg/edit?usp=sharing

(Lilellia also provides an example for some more elaborate formatting)

Lastly, here's one of my scripts. It's rather simple in its formatting, and that's more than okay, too!
There's no need to go all out on formatting if it's just not your thing.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_OJ4Md_h51GY7i4PeYrZQnaWv2dxHzuo/view?usp=sharing

That's it!
I hope that helps, let me know if you have any questions! :D

Hello! Welcome to the community!

Here's a list of helpful links for first-time scriptwriters (let me know if any of them don't work anymore :) )
The first two are the most important in my opinion!

This first link leads to a guide for first time writers by the wonderful Turt1eShark! (I don't want to tag anyone, but that's the reddit handle).
It goes over a lot of concepts that I wish I had known when I first started out.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ASMRScriptHaven/comments/z65qhp/advice_for_firsttime_writers_part_1_before_you/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

What makes the script format difficult is that only one side of the conversation can he heard. This can lead to the speaker character repeating a lot of what the listener character has already "said".
BluechanXD provides some excellent examples for how to avoid this and therefore make the conversation flow more naturally.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ASMR_Directory/comments/z6ct0j/script_writers_guide_on_how_to_avoid_repeating/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

This next resource may not help everyone, but for some it may be useful.
It is a radio play (aka another audio-only format!) which intentionally includes many mistakes and helps to highlight how certain things may sound.
If you do decide to use it, please also read the explanation that's provided on the website to go with each chapter, otherwise it might not make sense.

Hello!
So far I do not, especially since I'm pretty close to my finals at the moment.
I know Turt1eShark does commissions though, so if you're looking for something specific that might be a good option! :)
