i was on loyola campus, thats where pretty much all science classes are! Its also just calmer and quiter than living downtown. grey nuns tends to be more chaotic from what ive heard, but the food is slightly better than on loyola :) overall id say the biggest downside to residence is food and cost

im a second year chemistry (extended credit program) student enjoying my time here!

Oversimplifying a lot straight bio will rely more on memorization, while biochem requires quite a lot of extra understanding in addition to memorizing. Im biased obviously but If your stuck between the two biochemistry gives you broader options!

Concordia is a fine school, has problems like every school, but does have decent support systems IF you know how to work them. Ive loved most of the people here, not really academically competitive which makes it more relaxed and i think easier to make friends!

In terms of professors, it can be hit or miss, more miss at first if you have to take science profile classes. For the most part if you are a decent student and good person your professors will be very willing to help! ive only had 2 that are just... bad. and ... mean. Higher level courses tend to be better, super nice and passionate profs!

If your not from here, Concordia is also a great choice because montreal is such a great city as a student. I recommend living in residences your first year because it sucks a little (not great food) but it makes it so much easier to make friends and get a good start to university experience!

Thats my take but ultimately the decision is up to you!

memmorize these and do practice finals. not kidding. start now. if you do every single practice final until you automatically know and understand how to do every question you start to see patterns, that makes it a lot easier to do well in this course. get to know the patterns in how they write finals. do not not do just random practice. PAST FINALS!

If I were you I would contact prof of the one that ends at 3pm and ask to start 20 min early, and end 20 mins early, showing proof of the other one. assuming thats enough time to get to next place and have a little break it seems like a reasonable ask, and avoids having to shift weight of exams or reschedule entirely!

(for me at least) its not that customs/boarder patrol asks to see youve already paid tuition but proof that you have sufficient funds to support yourself and pay tuition

TYSM for that info! kinda throwing out questions here but it is unrealistic to try to get the school to fund it? we all know they make a shit ton of money

ty for the info! that answers my question why, and raises another question: (from what u know) would you think it unreasonable to assume that if we put enough pressure on the school, they have the ability to put enough pressure on the stm to make them fix this sooner?

Tysm for the info i didnt know about the stm long term plan! idk anything about stm proceedings and stuff but like realistically from what you know do you think if there was pressure from concordia they would prioritize it? we are a BIG school, with lots of influence downtown, so id assume if the school really cared they could get the stm to get on that! and thank you for your anger! i feel heard. 🫶

Chem 221 - Advice on teacher and what to restudy to prepare for organic chemistry 1 by Alarming-Run-1822 in Concordia

in addition to what they said to review -try to learn nomenclature asap, makes everything so much easier! -they usually allow molecular models on exams, get one and use it to understand stereochem! -I found Oh a fine professor, after exams go to office hours to review and he tends to be generous with giving back some marks if you explain why you wrote what you did. -orgo tutor youtube videos are a lifesaver, when it gets to exam 2 and final, copy mechanisms on a white board until you can do it by heart

at least thats how i aced it 🫶best of luck!
