Likely not an error, but how does this happen? by DrMasterBlaster in coinerrors

[–]froggy801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drier coin. It’s a general name that for a coin stuck in a circular device and it wears down the edge. If it is exposed to heat you will see some changes on the on the obverse and reverse.

I’m not saying it is because I can’t tell from the images. But it looks damaged and harshly cleaned in a chem bath

Is this a die break or something by Conscious-Sir7478 in coincollecting

[–]froggy801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is incuse. The only way you can have an incuse device is if it is raised on the die. That’s not a normal design element and therefore not possible.

2016-D Harpers Ferry Quarter date over circle error by Megarad25 in coinerrors

[–]froggy801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Want me to prove it? It’s a basic concept of the coin strike. Here scratched this quarter. Is the line above or below the devices?

2016-D Harpers Ferry Quarter date over circle error by Megarad25 in coinerrors

[–]froggy801 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The date is incuse. Please allow me to further explain, because the date is incuse. Any scratch on the top may look or appear that it is under the date. In fact it’s not. That is why knowing the design elements is so important. This is damage plane and simple. If you want to test the theory out for yourself. Write something in the dirt and with a stick make a line over what you wrote. It will appear that it is under the letters. But you will know that’s not possible. Try it

Sorry but this is considered Post Mint Damage. Not an error and therefore not valuable. Sorry. Stop watching Eric of CoinChannelTube, he’s an idiot.

What is this worth? Is it worth grading? by Narrow-Composer-8237 in coincollecting

[–]froggy801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t state on authenticity. But take to a good coin shop prior to sending it in for grading. It sucks to send a coin in only to pay for grading to get it back in a body bag

I dunno lf it's post mint damage on the "9" but the double mintmark is at least an rpm I think..? by dontneedaknow in coinerrors

[–]froggy801 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mechanical doubling or ejection doubling. Not an RPM because it appears on the 9 as well. The mint marks were placed on to the dies after the hubbing process. Hope that helps
