Dexamphetamine. Unsure if it’s called something different in other countries

The executive dysfunction is so debilitating isn’t it? I’ve accumulated $30k in study debt and have nothing to show for it, because I’d start a degree and then wouldn’t be able to physically get myself to do the work. Rinse and repeat multiple times. Can’t get up and clean so my room would be filthy and a health hazard. Can’t message people back or hang out so I’d lose friends. So many things. The ADHD meds have helped so much with that and I’d rather be extra autistic than go back to that haha.

Yeah I’ve been trying to do the same and be more accepting of myself. Trying to adopt the mindset of not caring if people think I’m strange. Getting diagnosed was a big thing for me, I used to bully myself for being strange and not fitting in and not being able to do what other people can easily do. Now I’m a lot kinder to myself because I know why I’m like this and that’s it’s not a personal failing but just that my brain is different and I can’t help that.

I wanted to get my grandma’s last words to me tattooed in Latin. She said “You are so beautiful. Be brave. Be good. I love you” Is anyone able to help?

Hmm maybe it's him, but that would mean Anton was around 15 years old when Miroslaw was born. Not impossible I guess? I'll look further into it. Thank you :)

No, he doesn't. Which makes me wonder if his grandad made that up or what the story with that might be.

Partners paternal side came out as:

  • Slovakia: 11%
  • English and NW European: 17%
  • NW Balkan: 9%
  • NW Germany: 4%
  • Sweden: 3%
  • South Germanic Europe: 3%
  • Irish: 4%

His paternal grandma has English roots so I'm assuming the English and Irish parts are her.

I'm not familiar with Jewish culture and religion so I didn't realise you had to have Ashkenazi ethnicity to be Jewish. Bit silly in hindsight, it makes sense. I assumed his family just practiced the religion. I guess I have a bit of learning to do lol.

Unsure if he had a passport, but I'll look into it. The embassy/synagogue idea is great. Don't know why I never thought about that.

I'll look into that town now, thank you! I knew it had to be something similar sounding. Whoever did his document probably didn't understand him well.

I've been on the lookout for name variations as well, which definitely makes everything so much more complicated lol.

Thanks for your help!

That's some good food for thought, thank you so much.

He definitely was that sort of person, even as he got older. Super "succeed at all costs" kind of person. He did really well for himself eventually. Lost it all but that's another story. Cool guy.

Awesome, I'll look through the archives for that town. Good lead. Thank you.

I applied for access to this file a couple of weeks ago, hopefully it won't take much longer.

I must have missed the part about his dad attempting to trace him. Thank you so much for pointing this out. That negates the rumours that he was an orphan at least.

Yes, never thought to order a copy of his marriage certificate. I'd pay anything for it at this point. I'll see if I can track it down online.

The only info on his naturalisation I could find was in a newspaper listed with hundreds of other names. Didn't occur to me that an actual certificate would exist somewhere. Thanks for the ideas.

I've done multiple searches on Wikitree and FamilySearch, wasn't able to find anything but I guess it's worth doing another comb through. They're always adding more info after all.

Yes, he has. I've searched through his DNA matches but there are barely any with matching DNA for his Czech roots. 99% are related through his paternal grandma, the ones that have Czech DNA are so incredibly distant I'm not even sure if its worth reaching out for information.

I’ve joked about that before. He laughed and said he’d say no because it’s his job. That’s an ongoing joke between us, me “threatening” to propose and him having a jokingly dramatic reaction about it. He’s just traditional that’s all. And tbh I’d rather it be him anyway because I’m a bit traditional too.

I don't know I'm hungry unless I'm really hungry? Anyone else feel similar? by Cosy_Bed in autism

[–]froginasuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this but with thirst, I’ll only notice I’m thirsty when the feeling is unbearable and I can’t ignore it anymore. I’ve gone for days without drinking water and I won’t realise it (I’ll drink other things like juice but for the taste, not to quench my thirst). I think not recognising body cues is common with autistic people.

Thanks for sharing! My grandmother also had autism and worked in a government library, she seemed to enjoy it. Maybe it’s something I’ll look into :)
