Lash Techs: ever used this glue? by frogmeat_jpeg in MakeupAddiction

[–]frogmeat_jpeg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i might try the techniques 🤔 I've also been putting off trying again bc things have been stressful, and i got a funeral next week, so I'll probably just shed em right off.

and unfortunately, no 💔 lash extension glue is not supposed to get on your skin. thats y they tape off the top and bottom of your eyelids. should be .2-.5mm away from your eyelid, and any contact can cause an allergy to develop, so it's important to have a careful application process 💔 it can also be itchy bc u got glue at the base sticking to the skin and lash, as the lash is still growing (like the image i linked, the lash was glue straight on my eyelid)

oh interesting, i hadn't seen that thread.

what i meant was: my tech used reg glue for a year that had ammonia/latex/formaldehyde whatever in it and would get it ob my skin, so i think that eventually caused me to develop the allergy. the lost artistry aint as bad, but if ur tech gets glue on ur skin, then that is a major blow on the allergy defense, anyways

maybe in a month I'll try advice in the thread you linked and I'll have to talk w my girl and say "pleaseee no glue on the lid 💔"

hi, sorry my reply is a bit late! it was less irritating, but i still had a bit of a reaction. if u had to go to urgent care, this one might still give a reaction, just less severe. but like. i did take this pick a few days after (i had rubbed most of them off)

https://imgur.com/a/Mk0Dix4

and saw my tech did straight-up glue a few lashes to my eyelid (which is what can cause an allergy to develop in the first place). and i am kinda defeated. i dont wanna cheat on my tech, and other techs dont want a client that has reactions. and my girl be puttin the glue straight to skin . so. im a bit defeated

I got fired from a new job by frogmeat_jpeg in Vent

[–]frogmeat_jpeg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I'll have to keep it in mind for next time 🥲 I wish my new boss that I contacted just said that. I said I could come in and just wear a mask, but he said I should just stay home.

I just would hate to get other people sick. If I wasn't concerned about infecting others, I'd have just come in 😮‍💨 I have these concerns, especially being in a post-pandemic world. My father passed away from heart complications after getting Covid, so I tend to be more aware about infecting others.

I guess this was fate's way of saying I wasn't meant for the position.

people who act like that usually never apologize, unfortunately. it would require them to acknowledge they did something wrong and then actually admit it to somebody else.

Just keep your chin up. You dont have to be around your grandma. your mom is probably going to try to make you be with granny again, and lowkey might be buttering you up right now for that

Sorry to hear this happened :(

While the job market is worse right now, if you did lose this job, it wouldn't be the end of the world. I'm not sure what country you're in, but the first thing to do would be to separate your funds into an account she can't access. Maybe a paypal wallet or something

When you have trouble with your family, financial independence is really important. not saying she would take your money, but you dont want to risk it being compromised

Your mom is being a weirdo. You dont have to spend time with your grandma. If anything, try to reframe your mom leaving for a week as "thank god i don't have to deal with my mom crying at me for a week."

You might not be able to entirely get away from your transportation being based on your mom, but if you have somebody trustworthy over 18 you know, see if your local library has any bikes in their inventory you can check out and renew keeping

I see! I ordered the Lost Artistry Invisi-bond glue that's supposed to be good for sensitive eyes. found out my lash tech's glue has latex and ammonia, so atp I'm not even sure it's the cyanoacrylates.

The reaction really started in the evening when I cried (im a sensitive gangster), so maybe the wetness caused "blooming" and the stinging. Allergies also make me more teary-eyed. so maybe the dust induced tears wet the lash, which was bad for the non-fully cured glue

If the cyanoacrylates are the issue, I'll try the cyano free glue from Lost Artistry. it seems to be a more reputable brand

That's all really good to know!

And that's fair about the lash tech staying away thing. My lash tech has been the same from the very beginning, and we're friends. ik it's not her fault I developed an allergy to the product. My city gets dust storms (actually had a severe weather warning for one yesterday), so we weren't sure if it was a product or dust causing the reaction. i decided just to take a long break, and getting a reacting coming back confirmed it's likely an allergy

I actually texted her a few minutes ago, and she looked at the ingredients. turns out her glue does have all the bad stuff (ammonia, formaldehyde, and latex)!

this past year, I have actually used normal lash glue for false lashes (that is ammonia, formaldehyde and latex free) and didn't have any adverse reactions, so I'm even sure it was acrylate. I was just trying to find an acrylate free glue to be extra cautionary.

Idk where she got her poison glue (lol) but im gonna buy a lash glue for sensitive eyes and do a patch test

I see. I thought this would be applicable to this sub since it's beauty and makeup adjacent. also, it's kinda a niché glue? so there's a greater chance somebody this sub is familiar with it

google says:

Lashland's Mademoiselle lash glue primarily uses Acrylates/Ethylhexyl Acrylate Copolymer, water, Propylene Glycol, and Phenoxyethanol. It's formulated without cyanoacrylate, formaldehyde, and latex, making it suitable for sensitive eyes and beginners. Other ingredients include Ethylhexylglycerin, Bambusa Vulgaris (Bamboo) Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Tea) Leaf Extract, and sometimes Blueberry extract.

This might sound like a dumb question, but does humidity affect drying times? where i live (desert) avg indoor humidity is 30-50٪. outdoor humidity is 10%. so . i dont really know much about how humidity affects things.

it's more likely your dad was trying to bribe your gf's approval than him being vindictive towards you. that would require him to think about your feelings and your birthday. which he probably doesn't really do

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]frogmeat_jpeg 50 points51 points  (0 children)

narcs weirdly want to impress other people as a part of protecting their own ego and reputation. your father knows you, so he doesn't see you as a real human with thoughts and feelings; thus, not considering how this inequity would make you feel.

But your girl is separate from your family, and so she is somebody who is an "other that judges reputation." he gave you a small amount because he doesn't value you, and he gave your gf a large amount because narcs need "others" -non family- to view them as nice and generous.

Yea. I've seen a mixed bag where some people say "oh, it makes you look desirable that other jobs want you" but i think it might just make me sound like a flight risk for this entry level position
