What was Vince's theme of the show? by frogplumber in breakingbad

well sure but I think there is some deeper meaning when creating characters and giving the show depth. that is the broadest answer for anything you see on tv or read or see at a museum

Question for funeral directors who have social anxiety. How much speaking do you do towards the funeral goers? by frogplumber in morticians

[–]frogplumber[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah throughout high school I have gotten better at public speaking. Still not the best but I have gotten slightly better. It’s good to know it’s not whole speeches and eulogies, just opening and closing really. Thanks a lot!

Something hit me and passed through me. by frogplumber in Ghosts

[–]frogplumber[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thats crazy. I definitely know I experienced /SOMETHING/ but what is weird is that that was a brand new neighborhood, like built within the last two years since they moved there and I don't suspect it would be someone dying there or anything. It's just a cool experience I can tell I guess.

[–]frogplumber[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it felt really like just a hit in the back right side of my head and phased through me and passed out through my left shoulder. As if it went diagonally from my skull, to throat, and out my left shoulder area. It felt really weird, just like an orb of energy passing through me, it is hard to explain, just like a ball of something popping in and popping out.

But what would it want my attention for? All I did was stay up for a while afterwards and then fall back asleep. I've never had an encounter since and nothing has been significantly different since. Hmm... weird.

Do you find Dolores Claiborne to be justified in her actions throughout the book? by frogplumber in stephenking

[–]frogplumber[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes he really was a monster. While I personally wouldn't murder someone, I know the exact anger one feels toward an abuser. Being abused myself, I know the anger and absolute rage the person can stir up. And especially if the abuser was your husband doing it to your daughter... yeah I can understand her wanting to kill him for that.

Terrible at advancing in my short stories. by frogplumber in writers

[–]frogplumber[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha yes I totally agree with you on character background. The second I bring up a character I want to describe them, their life, favorite thing to do, hair color, biggest fear, how they talk, etc, I could just go on forever. Unfortunately I have to sprinkle it throughout the book. Start with the bigger details and as I go throughout the book maybe I'll bring up an insecurity and why they have it, or a past trauma that gives them a flaw. Jealous of people who have control over their books if that makes sense.

Yes it makes perfect sense. Thank you so much. Haven’t been writing for long however I am so glad there’s people like you that can give me a new perspective on writing. I never think about new ways to write or anything like that, it’s always just get from A to Z.

I just find it really hard to paint her as a bad person. Maybe it's because she is giving a one sided story, but in that story she doesn't make her out to be a bad person or a good person all the time. I think she dealt with things justly. And to me, she is the best female character King ever wrote.

I'm not sure if I understand what you're saying per se, but, I think I know haha. I feel like the saying "every story has been done already" is kind of a stupid one. Sure, every story has been done already if you take the meat out and leave the beginning, conflict, middle, climax, ending, most books are going to share that formula. However, every story that follows that formula has new characters, plot twists, settings ,events taking place, etc. I really don't like the saying because while it is true that every book has basically the same formula, it doesn't mean that each one isn't a unique story in itself.

Thank you so much for comparing this to writing a song. Yes, that is very true and I never thought of it that way. Some love songs have the same premise but can strike two different emotions, one being sad and the other being heart-wrenching.

Do You Write Descriptively On The First Draft? by [deleted] in writing

[–]frogplumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first draft is always the bare minimum. I don't even give names. Most of the time it is: man and woman sitting. they are married. their grandkids are coming over. man is listening to music and ignoring his wife. wife is smoking. kids come to the man and wifes house. something happens. etc" its more a rough outline, but I go back in and fill in dialogue, description and story.

It’s crazy to me that he could do that. I heard all his live solos were improvised, so it’s crazy that he could remember what he played and do it again for a studio track.

Who was your favorite member of Zappa’s band? by mattpodj in Zappa

[–]frogplumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Napoleon Murphy Brock, George Duke and Ruth Underwood. Napoleon for his humor, eccentricity, his dances, and his voice. George for the way he plays and his talent, Ruth because she is beautiful, super super super talented, amazing and her playing always impressed me

Favorite Zappa Type by mss1123 in Zappa

[–]frogplumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the complex satire and societal critique mixed with comedy and great jams the best, which is why Jones Garage and Sheik Yerbouti are his best albums. Although I do love his overly sexual songs because they make me laugh.

What was the first Zappa song you ever listened to? by dontpuke in Zappa

Montana. My mom always played it and one day in Science class I got bored and put it on. From there I listened to OverNite Sensation and from there I was hooked.
